• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2002 Some Building Questions with Gmax

Please forgive my tiger like tenacity...but im dead set on being able to work my FSX / FS9 creations down into my FS2002 and CFS2 aircraft hangers. I have recently purchased FS2002 pro and can export a box into a model folder and fly it around in FS2002. Now why cant I just load up one of my 2004 models and directly export it to fs 2002? and why cant I get gmax fs2002 gamepack to export for CFS2. this is a conundrum as what I was promised was full capability with the pro edition. I'm now silent...as I patiently listen.

some new factors

I've gone through the error files and cleared every error related to collocated vertexes and the model flies in 2002. is there a way to negate the export error hang like it does in 2004? 2004 will pass a myriad of these collocated vertex errors. The problem I have is laziness....from my welding these points ill have to remake my prop hubs and retexture the majority of my aircraft. looking for an easier softer way here...

ok learning for the masses

I know most likely im fielding my own questions because yer tired oif answering these kinds of questions. but I get it now...if you have a working 2002 model it will fly in CFS2. (minus some interior animation.) and like I said before it must be a error free model. I would still like to ask the question if there is a setting to defeat the collocated vertex error.

Wow, no comprehensive answers in less than 3 hours? Bummer.

If you have FS2002 Pro then you presumably have the FS2002 SDK. You might start by reading that. No further suggestions here, I know nowt abaht FS8

I seem to recall I gave FS2002 to my brother 9 years ago.

Actually, I gave him FS2002 two years later.

Sorry, can't be much help.

lol My Hope Was

I realize that I was asking a totally off the wall question of guys that do this for a living. Really sorry about sounding like I was sniping at you for not answering quickly. I've been posting answers to my own questions...was trying to explain that. Didn't choose my words very carefully. Just want to leave something in return for all the good advice I've gotten from you two and arno, not to mention all the others that help. I'm making this a long apology because you deserve it.

Bottom line is I figured out what was causing it. My building methods suck. I have a billion collocated vertexes. Some reason 2004 will weld all of them and carry on but 2002 will not. after I welded everything to the .025 range it exported and works in fs2002. too bad my parts are getting warped and my texts are all over the place now. Guess im not out much. five dollars plus shipping to get 2002 pro....lol. Anyway. Thanks again for all the help you've given me since 3 years ago when I was scratching my head just getting the dang Gmax 2004 game pack to work. By the way...ive seen on other forums more than once, questions of this general persuasion. I posted a lengthy explaination of another work around for Ivan Tsu's MDLC. Maybe these would or could be melded and put in a wiki. I'll volunteer to do it if you would like. Just need some basics on what you expect and what format and such.
