• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi all, I've been working on a project that's called for some shapes that made me think a little...a bit out of the ordinary, thought I'd share.

I was rummaging through my files the other day, and found this detailed engineering drawing of a unique device. After scanning it and cleaning up the age spots, coffee stains, and assorted squashed bug splatters, I am posting it here as a CHALLENGE to anyone with Max, GMax, FSDS, or any other 3d software to produce the world's first 3d model!

Be careful to observe the extremely detailed and precise specifications... ;D

It is undoubtedly a highly modified servo arm for a flux capacitor input controller mechanism!

Either that, or the clutch actuator for a 1914 Ford tractor...

I don't remember just when I first obtained this, but it was sometime around 1979 or so at least while I was teaching at UF, Gainesville, Florida. :D

Being the packrat that I am, the drawing was squirreled away in a "joke folder" which subsequently became "lost" among my file cabinets.
 
LMAO! What tolerances! What notations!

Among other duties, one of my prime tasks is to render 3D models of the various casting and assemblies at Ellicott Dredges using drawings from as far back as 1913... but NOTHING like that!!!!

I'm glad to have shared it then. I've never seen anything like it before on the web...

1/4 +/- 0.750 is one of my favorite dimensions...

...along with the "8th root" (not critical)

I have to wonder though, the "8th root" of what precisely? It doesn't say!
 
I don't know whats so funny about it!? I am currently working with Solidworks and my drawings look more or less exactly the same :rolleyes:

Locate several tapped holes in general area as shown
