• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Something conflicting with my terrain?

I am trying to create a custom ground poly, but it is getting clipped by the terrain (I have posted about this several times before, however this time I can't seem to find a cause). I looked at all my flattens, and they appear correct, however there are a few spots on my airport where the flattens are seemingly ignored, and the ground either slopes down or rises above the ground poly where it should not. Any ideas?

Hi,

Did you really triple check that your flatten altitude and the altitude in your airport XML and the altitude of the runways is exactly the same?

Yep. The altitudes are all as they should be. However, I think I found the problem. I looked through some of the scenery directory, and discovered an old afcad file in a different folder (must have accidentally done put it there during one of my late nights). I deleted that and took another look, the terrain is still messed up but I am working on it now to see if that did the trick.

Well, indeed I have confirmed that not only was that causing the problem (in fact, removing the extra file fixed several other problems), but that I am also an idiot :P. It only took me two months and half a dozen copies of the same topic to find a single file that was messing with everything.
