• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi

:scratchch Is it possible for us to make sounds and place them as scenery objects? As Lago's FSE does except through our usual placement methods.Idealy I would like to assign a GUID to each sound and use the attach tool.

thanks

Vincent

I think sounds can only be added to effect files. So then you should be able to place the effect like you normally do.

Excellent! :) Thanks Arno.I hadn't even considered that. I'll download the Effects SDK and have a look straight away.

Cheers
Vincent

Vincent, i placed a sound with the FX files but it will only play once for the trigger, you then need to restart the flight to get it to play again as resetting the time wont work. It allso wont loop and there is a restriction on how the code works and i think it will cause problems if someone else uses the same setting as the sound FX will be global, they use the barnstroming chickens in the SDK as an example !

Hi Jeff
 I've downloaded both the FS2004 and FS2002 versions of the special effects sdk from the MS web site but I can find no examples to look at.Is there another version?Even looking at fireworks effects in my effects folder I cannot see how the sound is called/created.Have you by chance still got the tutorial with the chickens?

Vincent

Hi Vincent.

I think the sounds are hard-coded in the sim... and VERY limited. Not suitable for what you want.

You might want to check José Oliveira's website:

http://www.jcboliveira.flysplash.org

He has been able to trigger sounds by aircraft condition.
