• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Is there any known free object package that contains some sort of spotlights? I have a couple of things in my project that I would like to put a spotlight on, but can't find any for FSX that work. I would try to make my own, but, that's more work than I'm willing to put into something this simple. A pre made spotlight object would be just fine, nothing fancy, just a simple spotlight.

Explain what you mean by "I have a couple of things in my project that I would like to put a spotlight on", and we may be able to help more.

If you want to create the 'appearance'- viewed from a distance- of objects 'illuminated' at night, these threads state FSX' limits / options:

FSX can use a Special Effect Fx file at the far end of a semi-transparent 3D light cone, but that would be a custom 3D model with Attached Fx.

All other FSX / FS2Kx default and/or 3rd party add-on Scenery Library objects I know of use an 'opaque' emissive flat plane at the far end of a semi-transparent 3D light cone.

I'm not going to go into a whole lot of detail for something this simple. All I want is a spotlight or two to shine at night onto a couple of fountains, and a couple of statues. I don't need anything fancy, just a spotlight maybe using some sort of effect that I can go in and edit the color(s) on. Should be simple enough to do. I don't want to have to 'Go to a month long design class" to do it. A pre-made object will suffice. Just something I can place using ADE, don't want to go into all the design , vertices, vectors, etc., just a simple spotlight that I can edit and place in front of certain objects (not going to go into detail about where and what the objects are because there is no need). I don't want to zip, copy, paste ,upload,link... a bunch of files to do this one simple task. I was only asking if there was someplace to download some sample or freeware lights that may have what I want in it. If not, I know enough about using Sketchup and placing effects to build one, I just wanted to save a little time by using a pre-made one. That shouldn't be too much to ask. Like I said, i don't want to have to go to computer graphics design college to do something this simple. If there isn't one available somewhere, I think I can figure out how to make one myself, just takes more time to do with the modeling and all, I might can even modify one of the lights already included in FSX object library if I have to.
