• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Did you delete your configuration data from the appdata folder?

Bummer... still seeing crashes. But not as much. Maybe 80% of the time as opposed to 95%. Need to use it more, though. Just a first impression from using it yesterday. Going back to the older version I do not experience a single crash. I can have 3-4 open at one time too - no issues. Would it continue to be helpful to list error messages if I encounter any today?

Ok, I don't see an appdata folder in the scenPROC folder. Where is this located? This could be my issue. AH,... I mean I know where the AppData folder is but what folder should I be looking for? Hold on.... you can see I am writing this as I search, ha! Looks like I see a SceneryDesign.org folder. I'll remove that and try.

Nope... still crashing. So I am lost. Arno, should we delete the folder entirely and let scenPROC build a new one? If so, that is not working for me. Willing to try anything you suggest.

I meant the scenerydesign.org folder in the appdata folder indeed. That's where all settings are stored.

I fixed the crash I could reproduce. So if you still have crashes please send me the details.

Also which was the last version that worked ok?

Alright, deleted contents agin in the AppData, Local folder. This time the program did not crash. I will keep testing today to see what kind of crash ration I am getting. Just opened twice in a row and no crash. Maybe onto something :)

Hopefully.

It just came to my mind that I should add a command line option to reset all options to default. That's easier then deleting those files.

i have deleted the Appdata folder each time i updated past two days; still crash

4 revisions back didn't crash; right before you change the .NET4 thing

As long as I can't reproduce the problem on my pc, it will be hard to fix.

I'll see if I can get the normal error handler to catch this problem, that usually gives more useful information about the problem.

But it might take a few days, I'm in France for my work the next three days.

Just ran the tool on another PC than my development PC, and I also seem to get the crash there. So that might help to debug the issue. I'll have another look at it when I'm home again.

On this PC it works when I just clear the config file, but on a second run it crashes. So I will take another look into that.

i tried resetting everything again; still crashing
im good on Win8 so far no issue with latest build, only on win7!

Just a question that might help me find the bug. Which flight sims do you have enabled in the options and which is the default?

On the pc where I get a crash no FS is installed at all. So all versions are disabled. I'm thinking that could be part of the issue.

i deleted FSX registry entries,
deleted my appdata scenproc folder
renamed FSX folder (P3D remains unchanged)
open scenProc
test failed, still getting errors

I should first try to get a better error message I think. Else it's difficult to find.

That's the problem, that error tells me hardly anything. The error should be caught by my normal error handler which gives the stack trace and other useful information. But for some reason it doesn't happen...
