• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Subdiving an Area?

Hey everyone,

So I'm working on my first scenery, and am stuck on something. I extruded a face of a cube, and now want to delete about a quarter of that area extruded. I decided I was going to use the Polygon select tool, and delete the polygons in that area I want to delete, but I have the following problem (circled):

Basically, I would like to know how to make more polygons in that area circled, both horizontal and vertical divides.

Also, when I've done the whole terminal, how do I clean up polygons?

Also, what is the average polygon count in a whole scenery?

Thanks a lot.

There are a few Poligon's as long as it is possible.

What it is impressed with in the way of making you.

1.The basis of the way of making it is to reduce Mesh's as much as possible before the problem.
2.Even the form which is the same, in case of me, Vertics :20 Faces:36.
3.Confirm it with File>File Properties>Contents when it is how to make you.
4.Faces becomes control impossibility when an airplane approaches your buildings if it isn't reduced as much as possible.
5.Then, as for Gmax, with Fs2002_Gmax, Fs2004_Gmax and FSX_Gmax, properly, regularly
I think that you had better set it up for the future as well.
6. Read each SDK precisely, and set it up according to directions for that.
7. The second Shot is the part of gmepacks of my gmax,FS2002,FS2004,FSX_Gamepack,and there is a shortcut of each Gmax, and it is used properly. :)

Thanks for the great help, very much appreciated :).

I don't really get this bit though: "What it is impressed with in the way of making you. " :).

Thanks again :).

Hi,

I use the slice tool when I want to slice a polygon into two segments. You can position it on the location where you want the "cut" to be made and then just press slice.

But when I look at your picture, I think you have too many segments there already. Why do you have to divide the object into so many polygons for just a flat wall? Just one polygon should be enough in that case and will be better for the performance. It is easier to start with less polygons and divide them later when needed, then trying to reduce the polygon count later when you have finished already.

Thanks, yeah, it's my first project. Never even knew there was a slice tool. Thanks :).

Hi,

You can also (via Editable Poly) select "Edge" and use the cut toggle and draw a line from one segment to another.
If you need to remove a segment, you can select this segment line via Edge and then delete it.
