• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Substance Painter Question

Hi all,

I have a model that I've created with multiple materials and exported to Substance Painter. Once textured, I use the MSFS preset to export the texture maps, but I'm getting individual maps for each material, rather than a combined map. Is there any way to get Substance to export a single map for each channel that covers all materials, or would I need to go about combining them into one map individually?

On a related note, I'm not able to view the model in Dev Mode. I've placed the model in the correct directory, built the package with no errors, closed and opened the project, but I still can't even find the model in the Object Browser. It's just not there., even when I search for it. Am I missing a step?

Any help would be appreciated.

1. Substance Painter cannot combine textures. The only way to make one texture map with different materials there is using masks on a single material applied to the whole object (or group of objects). You might try to combine them in Blender (if that's what you use) via baking, but that would require some shading nodes knowledge and you'll need to ensure that you don't have overlapping UVs.

2. It is really hard to tell not seeing your folder structure, filenames etc. Did you put your compiled package into the Community folder before trying to find it in the Object Browser?
