• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi,

how can I permanently switch of the Head up Display? the one with framerate and all the other text messages on screen.

Thanks

Press Shift Z a couple of times (but it is not permanent), otherwise you would have to change some things in the fs9/fsx.cfg.

Pressing Shift-Z a couple of times and saving the flight to default flight worked fine for me.

Out of curiosity I had a look at the diff of the configuration files (user documents and %APPDATA% folders) and I could not find any changes related to the HUD in the human readable files. I guess than it's saved in the Startup PC7.WX file which has also changed.

Maybe with FS9 it was still in the *.cfg file.

Those parameters are still defined in the Prepar3D.CFG file. Each [TextInfo.n] defines a line in what you are calling the HUD. Either comment out or remove the entries entirely to prevent the "HUD" from ever displaying:
Code:
[TextInfo.1]
Latitude=1,1
Longitude=1,2
Altitude=1,3
Heading=1,4
AirSpeed=1,5
WindDirectionAndSpeed=1,6

[TextInfo.2]
FrameRate=1,1
LockedFrameRate=1,2
GForce=1,3
FuelPercentage=1,4

[TextInfo.3]
Latitude=1,1
Longitude=1,2
Altitude=1,3
Heading=1,4
AirSpeed=1,5
WindDirectionAndSpeed=1,6
FrameRate=2,1
LockedFrameRate=2,2
GForce=2,3
FuelPercentage=2,4

[SlewTextInfo.1]
Latitude=1,1
Longitude=1,2
Altitude=1,3
Heading=1,4
AirSpeed=1,5

[SlewTextInfo.2]
FrameRate=1,1
LockedFrameRate=1,2

[SlewTextInfo.3]
Latitude=1,1
Longitude=1,2
Altitude=1,3
Heading=1,4
AirSpeed=1,5
FrameRate=2,1
LockedFrameRate=2,2

Thanks that worked even better. I guess I pressed Shift-Z again before I made a diff. Because than it recreates these settings in the cgf file.
