• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Swithing from "aircraft" to "AI"

If this is not the right forum to ask this question, please advise which forum it should be in.
I am building 50' cabin cruiser(boat) for FSX, and on my boat I will have a 12' dinghy.
I am wandering if I can have the dinghy built as an "aircraft", but acting as an "AI" on its cradle on top of my boat while operating my boat (as "aircraft"), then, hoit down the dinghy beside the boat and switch over to my dinghy (as aircraft") and my boat would then become the AI.
I am pretty sure that you can use aircrafts as AI since I believe one of the missions in FSX involves switching over from one plane to the next. I am just not sure it can be done the way I want to do it.

Hum, it is a flight simulator, not a sea rescue simulator (
)...

When boat is on "aircraft mode" why your dinghy have to be in AI mode? Static mode is not enought i.e. using a complete MDL of boat with dinghy on top?

When using dinghy on "aircraft mode" you can put a boat MDL without the dinghy on top as static or AI ship.

The real problem is how to make appearing the static or AI boat at the right place when to got aboard the dinghy?

Static boat : use a MDL without dinghy on top, install it in the "right" spot with visibility very dense. Set your sim to normal visibility; arriving to the spot wou will no see her, but when switching in dinghy set the visibility to very dense and the boat model will appear.

AI Boat : set your MDL at 40% ferries traffic (in PlansXXX.txt). Set the ferries traffic at 30% in FSX. When arriving to the "right place" at the "right time", set the ferries traffic at 40% and the boat will appear.

It is a little bit weird, I know. After all it is a flight simulator... Dont know if you will all understand. Not sure me to (I am not bilingual...)!

I really like that video clip you sent me. The idea of going from the main ship to the small boat then back to the main ship is exactly what I am looking for, but I don't want to be restricted to fallow a "script".
If the "ship simulator" program would be like flight simulator, where you could chose your boat and go do the waterways of the world, then I would be there rather that doing boats on flight sim. But every time I would go looking for a boat simulator program, I would always be disappointed at the lack of freedom to go were I wanted.

I think I have an idea of what you are saying, but it looks like there would be a lot of pre-planning involved.
