• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Tailhook Animation

Hi Sirs,

well, I've just completed the model of a large container ship for FS9.
Now, I would add some little animations that make the game experience a little better. In particular, so far, i've done animations for the captain's deck door (I named it F_Canopy, following the SDK) and the Host country flag ( since I had no other exits, I assigned the name R_canopy). Both of them work properly.

Now, I want animate the anchors, in the way that they go up and down, and I'm looking for a part name that I could use. i thought that use the anchor as tailhook would have been a good idea, but I wasn't able to find the correct name in the SDK.
How can I assign an animation to the tailook command?

I'm sorry if the request seems poor, but I've just began to delve into the aircraft designing, and there are a lot of tips that I must to learn yet.

I hope you can explain me something

Thank you for tour help

Keyframe animate from 0 to 100, name the part tailhook

Hmmm I think the tailhook reacts to the ground (not sure about water)
so the anchor may hit the water and bounce back :)
Try a custom animation for the anchor and lever to send it up or down
the anchor animation with 400 kf to make it nice and smooth
Code:
   <part>
      <name>anchor</name>

      <animation>
         <parameter>
            <code>(L:anchor, bool) 400 *</code>

            <lag>200</lag>
         </parameter>
      </animation>
   </part>
and lever with 100kf
Code:
   <part>
      <name>Lever_anchor</name>
      <animation>
         <parameter>
            <code>(L:Lever_Ankor, bool) 100 *</code>
            <lag>200</lag>
         </parameter>
      </animation>
      <mouserect>
         <cursor>Hand</cursor>
        <tooltip_text>Click to lower</tooltip_text>
         <callback_code>(L:Lever_Ankor,bool) ! (&gt;L:Lever_Ankor,bool)</callback_code>
      </mouserect>
   </part>

I'll try at once both the solutions. I hope to do not damages, since it the first time i try to use custom animations.
However, thank you again

I'm sorry Au-maV, but i need some further clarification.

Well, I've assigned the name "anchor" to the anchor group in the model.
Group has already an animation assigned (and set to: linear, ok?)

Now, if I'm right, I have to add an "anchor_lever" group, that is assigned to the second part of your script and allows the anchor to go up/down, correct?
But I don't understand where i must to model this lever group. Maybe in the VC, so I can operate it by the interior view?

I feel I'm quite close to the solution, but something isn't in the right place yet.
Please, help me once again. :)

Thank you very much

Hi
Hmmm sounds like G-max or 3dmax talk to me :) ..Im a FSDS user
but yes the anchor_lever is for the VC, so you can toggle the main animation
You do know how to add code to the MakeMDL.parts.xml file ?
Ill leave the rest to those who speak G-max :D

yeah, I'm gmax.. :o
well..adding a lever to the VC isn't a problem at all. Concerning how to add the script to parts.xml I think I have to open it with notepad and then just Copy and paste, right? I think this should animate properly both the anchor and the lever.. hopefully.

Thank you
