• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Taxiway lighting

Allright,
Now I am having difficulties with the blue taxiway lights. Every taxiway that I connect to the runway will add a couple of lights into the runway environment. This is particularly problematic at the runway ends as the blue lights go across the runway to the other side. I can live with the intersection taxiways as they only go about a foot or two onto the runway.

Anyone know of a way to properly end your taxiway onto the runway? Using the Taxiway Path tool I click and hold from my Hold Short node to the Runway Path line and shift release to attach the Taxiway Node to the Runway path. This gives me a perfect curves onto the runway, but the blue lights are on the Runway. Adding more nodes does not work as the curves onto the runway become jagged.

Have you tried setting the center line lights setting to false on the short section of taxiway that connects the hold short node and the runway? Maybe that would stop the lights from going onto the runway?

I don't have the CL lights set on (True). I only have the Right and Left edge lights set to True and the CL set to True The lights are not the green centerline lights, they are the blue left and right edge taxiway lights. In RW they end at the runway usually with a double blue light on each side of the entrance to the taxiway. I will post a Picture to show what they are doing.

Here is a picture to illustrate my issue with taxiway lights. I have been nudging nodes all day :coffee::eek:

This pic shows approach end of 11 with lights across the runway from where the should end. They appear to follow the taxiway path onto the runway.

Question is how to make the taxi lights stop at the runway edge?

Perhaps you'll have to split the taxiway between the hold short node and the runway into two sections. One section going from the hold short node to the edge of the runway and the second section going from there onto the runway.

You need to add a small/short runway link line to the left of the taxiway where it enters the runway. This will stop the taxiway lights at the edge of the runway so they cannot follow the curve. A small amount of taxiway way fillet will now also draw to the left side of the taxiway at the point it joins the runway.

I also find you have to be very careful that the runway taxiway is exactly in the centerline of the runway, also play around with the width of the runway taxiway and see what the impact is.
