• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

teach me please:)

hi guys, check the image, just two question:
1)what is the best method to connect this two cylinders in order to create a uniform turn?
2)how do u round off and smooth the edges of a box?do u create a cylinder like i did,or there is another easy method?
Sorry for these noob question...

thank u!

I wrote a mini-tutorial about a year ago, but have long since forgotten where I posted it here at FS-Developer... :o

However, the simplest method would be to create a spline shape from the top edges of your building, another shape for your curved section, then Loft the curved shape along the splined edge shape.

Nice! I'm happy that my abbreviated mini-tutorial was clear enough to follow successfully.

It's really not such a difficult task, once you've done it once or twice... :)

another stupid question Bill...now,how to merge all that faces of that cylinder in order to apply my texture properly?do i have to apply my texture to all the element of the ed. mesh?or there's another method?cuz when i open the unwrap map i see a big mess with all that points and i'm unable to fit my texture correctly...
first time i've encountered this issue...i usually work with simple planes and boxes...sorry for my poor english... hope u'll understand!

thanx
Salvatore

Use the UVW Map feature.

Think of the UVW Map as if it were a "camera." What you are effectively doing is taking a "snapshot" of the mesh's vertices from whatever View you are in and the orientation of the UVW Map's "frame" (the box that shows the size/limits of the UVW Map's "viewfinder."

Before adding a UVW Map modifier to the object's stack, pre-select the polygons or faces you wish to "take a picture of," then add the UVW Map modifier.

You will see a UVW "frame" appear on screen and you can either use the modifier's "Gizmo" to rotate the "frame" to the angle you wish...

...or simply click on the "View Align" button in the UVW Map's rollout. In any case, it is absolutely critical that you make the UVW Map's box match the dimensional ratio of the texture sheet being used, otherwise your UVW Mapped vertices will not have the same ratio.

Need help

Hi all ,

All l need is a solid hard surface concrete block say 50x20x5 meters to use it as a library object and cover the gradual fall of the shoreline in a project of
a port l am making .
l have not sufficient time to start learning Max presently , just for what l think is very simple for a good friend knowing Max.
So could someone spend a couple of minutes and help
Thanks in advance
