Hi,
Newbye to ModelConverterX (great tool), i got a transparency problem converting fs2004 mdl files (from fsc file) to scenery. These pictures show it.

Showing ok the the fs9 mdl

fs9_mdl.jpg

but converted to bgl

fs9_bgl.jpg

Can you help me ? Converting to FSX bgl is ok after positionning the transparency (alpha) on the texture file.

Regards,
JMC

ps : model fsc from RAF_BAY.zip (simviation)

You have to play with the MCX Material Editor, identify the texture and apply "set default transparent" setting.(above in the dialog box there you can add night textures too) if this not work you should try with other setting in the "Framebuffer Blend":
Destination Blend
Source Blend

Thanks, i wil try this. But it is quite singular, the mdl converted is OK but the bgl no. What are the changes in the use of textures at level bgl?

JMC

ps : I did "set default transparent", but no cure. Maybe a bug with this version (1.3.0)! I can only convert ok to FSX bgl adding an alpha channel to the texture involved.

Hi,

What do you mean with adding an alpha channel? The FS2004 texture will already have an alpha channel. So if you use the same texture in FSX there should be no reason to add it back.

If your alpha channel is lost somewhere on the way, that would indeed explain this problem.

I think I had similar problems with ships, converting the Baltic fleet :D, in MCX the ships were OK, but in the game have those problems with the black textures. it is because try to get the same output but changing the options in the frame buffer blend. sorry but I "think" I solve this in this way if ever.
Edit: I have checked my Baltic fleet, it seem I could solve the problem. try with just "InvSrcAlpa and SrcAlpha in the Famer Buffer Blend, not touch anything more, according to what I saw in the material editor.
but yes, this problem was very weird.

Hi,

No there is no alpha channel in the texture at the beginning. It is a CFS2 fsc file conversion to FS9 mdl and bgl. The conversion mdl to bgl failed with FS9 (Mdl ok and bgl wrong) but succeed for FSX (mdl and bgl ok). It seems hard to fix :-(

Hi,

Could you post a sample? The only thing I can think of is that it is using the old code to make a specific color transparent and therefore there is no alpha channel.

Hi,

In my first post you have the file involved. I did the fsc to mdl conversion and then to bgl. The two pictures show the problem. It was necessary to add an alpha channel on the texture "RailsNNets.bmp". All works fine with FSX, but i am searching quality landable war ships for FS9.
