• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.

    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

MSFS20 Texture Problem

I have exported the subject of the attached screenshot about 4 times, each time, despite looking okay in blender it is just a black object in the sim, although the detail is there. I did notice something though that doesn't appear on other models? by the side of the materials box there is a drop down that gives the option of Data or Object? I have tried on both but it doesn't make any difference. I have checked the texture maps and they all seem okay.

Any ideas

What form are the textures in, are they in ".png"? Are the textures accompanying the model when they are converted? Are the textures being converted to dds at all?
 
Yes, all .png files and converted, this is what I get:- you can see the image, just about in msfs?

Hi,

I think that has something to do with metallic. Have you changed the time of day /angle of the sun to check if it is due to the reflexes
 
I only see Albedo, normal, and what could be a metallic as "_RGB". I wonder if the RGB file needs to be renamed to "_COMP"?.
 
Not too sure if we're looking at textures from the same 'set', so it may be irrelevant, but your albedo is flipped compared to the others.

You are right, appears to be flipped. Good eye! :)
 
Made sure everything is facing in the same direction, checked the RGB settings and did it again using Quixel, Still got the same very detailed Barrel in black???
 
It not the normals or faces... did you flip horizontally on the normal map? at anytime or the albedo ?
 
I did it all using materialize, v 1.78 so it only lets you flip normal map, I am really confused with this, everything else works fine, but this barrel??? its like the Albedo isn't coming through
 
The normal map doesn't or shouldn't be flipped horizontally at all.
