FS2004 Textures Location

Hi Patrick,

Don't know it exactly. But AFAIK flight simulator "looks for" local textures in the texture folder of the scenery first. This would mean that the duration for collecting the used textures would be a little bit longer if flight simulator eventually is findinding the relevant textures in the main texture folder.

Hi Gianni...that is what I thought. My idea is that the FS engine is made to look for the texture in the parallel texture folder to the scenery folder and if it doesn't find it there it would look in the general texture folder.

I am just wondering why some developers insist in sticking them in the general texture folder.

Hi,

I would advice against putting them in the general texture folder. That makes it almost impossible to uninstall your scenery later on, since you never know which textures belong to it. So I would always put them in the local texture folder, that belongs to the scenery folder of the BGL that is using the textures.
