• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

The Ghost Project

If you need any help, you can count on me. I fly the PT TU-154M and am fimilliar with it's systems and procedures. Furthermore I fluently speak Russian. :)

Same here.
I do hope your model will have better texture mapping than the Russian ones, especially the B-2. The guys re-making the B-2 for FSX used separate .mdl files for VC and exterior, so I guess we could concievably couple them together...

In FSX the VC and external model are always separate files in FS9 the VC and model are both compiled together as LODs on part makes up the external model, the other the VC but in FSX it doesn't work this way, you have the ability to model both separately which allows you to add WAY MORE DETAIL.

It is easy to implement a model with 250,000 polys and a VC with 250,000 polys alone each but together on a single mdl and you start to get hic-ups.

When it comes to texture mapping, I'm all for the painters because I have painted several aircraft myself ... I'm not a fan of flip it upside down and mirror horizontally or vertically, I am a simple guy :-] or trial and error paint kits where you have to constantly repaint an area to get it to align correctly.

The POSKY 777 paintkit is a good example of how I would texture map...I would create a master paint kit with the entire fuselage all together, where you can easily paint the aircraft, then with added guides, all the painter has to do is cut and paste and align and they are done, what they see is what they get, NOT what they THINK they will get, I strive really hard to make sure of that!!

Simmer's Sky also has full fuselage paint kits, those are winners for me. I also hate paintkits with complicated grouping of parts, again, Im a simple guy, I follow the KISS method; Keep It Sime Stupid, lol.

I don't need to count rivets anywhere anyway, so why bother painting them on a split up map high res texture map?

(Fortunately, at least for FSX/P3D, there's still the 4096*4096px option for those with a craving for HD paints.)

Woa! I was supposed to be working on this all day, Thursdays are dedicated to the Tu-154 but today, I found myself sleeping on the floor with the project opened in gmax waiting for me to touch it. I must have been really tired from work.

Well, I am awake now, time to get to work with this baby, hoping to make a lot of progress tonight! :-]
