• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX The Republic of Koquwa - an entire FSX country

Ok, storytime. Prepare yourself for quite a read:

When I was a little kid, I always got those Matchbox/Majorette/Maestro model aircraft, both the real and fake ones, and I used to make my own model airports. At first, the designs I made were completely random, they were just different airports every time. Then, I noticed that I started to make the same six airports every time. And so, those were the only ones I made. As time went by and my model collection got bigger, I would celebrate a new airline's first 'flight' into an airport (most likely the biggest of them). And, slowly but surely, I started making names for them. First were airport names, and I used my real name and added '-ville' or '-tropolis' to it. However, it didn't seem culturally significant enough, so I made up random words and used those. City names came next, and these were often names of airports, so that didn't take long. As for the nation name, I made up another word: Koquwa. For airlines, I made up a national airline and assigned models to them, assigned some others to other airlines to say that they 'leased' them, and assigned some other fake airlines as regional or low-cost airlines. Some examples were: a long-haul Qantas subsidiary, a new Big Four American airline, and a primarily 787 airline from Abu Dhabi (which are all gone now).

For a short while, I kept adding to the 'lore' of the country. It was situated in southern Africa, in what is in reality Namibia and Angola. However, I primarily focused on airport lore, adding timetables, drawing maps and designs, and simulating construction times for expansions. But then, I grew up, and part of it started becoming childish for me, where I made airports and played with model planes. However, the other part was still interested in developing lore for this country. Even today, sometimes I note down changes within the region, such as a new airline, or an airport expansion. I even started a Google Docs Wikipedia-styled doc for the country, where I've finished the entire history of the country (I still need to do everything after that, such as Geography, and Economy, etc.).

So, why am I mentioning this all?

Well, since I was young, I wanted to share my little fake country with everyone. I told my family, and even my close friends when I got older. But, I wanted to share my designs with everyone, and furthermore, make it inside a game, where I could truly build everything other than just the airports. I did start making one airport on Roblox back when it was cool, but I never got very far. The same can be said for Minecraft. However, there was also FSX.

I have played FSX for years, however, I only started getting into addons and mods now. And I had what I need: ADE for airports and scenery, AIFP for flightplans, and paint.net for repaints. I made my childhood dream, of airports and airlines, into a reality, and now I want to share it with those interested in airports and airlines as well.

There are six main cities and airports; five on the mainland, one on an island, and I've finished the airports. I am currently working on the flightplans of the four airlines native to the country, but I have done the international flights. If you download most of AIG's or WoAI's flightplans, you can now move the International flights bgl file into your S/W/S folder and the aircraft should automatically appear, because the bgl file uses aircraft from AIG/WoAI releases. They have fake regs close to real regs - at least, regs that don't appear in the AIG/WoAI plans. (e.g. A6-EVZ, an Emirates A380 which doesn't exist irl).
