• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

To-do request list aka Some features that could be useful

Russell,
I have posted some features in some another tread, but I do have some more.
Let's see:
- lock object movement; supercar1000 asked only for aprons, I would ask for also for taxiways, apron lights, parkings...
- automatic snap to taxiway and road point
- semi transparent parking positions so I can see a taxi/vehicle road near the huge parking position :)
- maybe a combination of use of SHIFT, CTRL and ALT buttons together with a mouse for selecting objects below one or above it (CorelDraw and PhotoShop style), for drawing lines (on taxiways determine type of point), maybe for panning if one doesn't have middle button (okay maybe I worked too much with ProEngineer ;) )
- right mouse button click for some common tasks: start taxiway, put current parking position at mouse, start apron lights, put object at mouse position, put radionavigational aid, start drawing apron - I guess this would be enough

No need to rush but these are ideas for future.

Keep up excellent work and best regards,

Thanks for the very good ideas! I've commented on each of them below.

I agree. We are looking into the best way to implement this.

- automatic snap to taxiway and road point

I'm not sure what you mean here. What would be snapping to the taxiway or road point?

Interesting idea! We'll look into this one.

I don't want to clutter up the right click popup menu. As it is there are already 6-9 options, depending on what object is selected. However, we are looking at ways to make it easier to select new tools without having to continuously go back to the toolbar.

Some of them will definintely make it into the next release I think.

Thanks again.

I'm not sure what you mean here. What would be snapping to the taxiway or road point?
For example, I have a taxiway road and put a point there while drawing (when the line is drawn I can't add a point on that line btw). Then I continue drawing, let's say I want to make rectangle. So when I come with a line (the same or some other) to the mentioned point, usually I want that two lines are tied together on that point. So the point of second line snaps to the point of first line. I think AFCAD is doing this, CorelDraw knows snapping object to the other object or special line.
I hope You understand what is my idea?

About cluttering the popup menu. I have seen really cluttered menus like the one in VRC (VATSIM's radar client) or IvAc (IVAO radar client), even FSSC has quite some options (and it was a great scenery tool!).

Again, tahnks for the excellent tool and keep up great work!

Best regards,

First, thanks for the compliments!

If I am understanding you correctly, FSX Planner can already do this.

If you have an existing taxiway going from point 1 to poinit 2 and you want to add a new taxiway that connects to your existing taxiway between point 1 and 2, then all you have to do is hold down the shift key and click on the taxiway line when you start creating your taxiway. This will then insert a new taxiway point into the existing taxiway line.

Also, when you create taxiways, existing taxiway points should highlight when you put your mouse over them. If you click when one of them is highlighted then that point will be used as the end point of the new taxiway, instead of creating a new point.

Hopefully that is clear.

What is probably going to happen is that we will allow the user to choose what options are displayed in the right click popup menu. That way each user can have a right click menu that they like.

I would like to see exclusion for autogen if possable. I hate trees poping up in the middle of my new airports.

I'd like the ability to multi-select items. Ideally, I'd also like to be able to selec the whole airport and drag it to a new position as poer AFCAD 2.21. But, hey, at least we now havetools for modifying the airfields, unlike a few months ago! Well done to both Russell and Jon.

Emm, that seems to be impossible to be done with FSXP, unfortunatelly :( I've read that this type of exclusion is now in domain of shapes and polys, in other words, try SBuilderX, You can get it from Avsim's library...

You can move the entire airport to a new location in FSX Planner. Just choose the Edit -> Move Airport option. Then enter the new lat/lon coordinates for the airport center point. This will move the entire airport to the new location. (It doesn't take autogen or terrain or approaches into account, just physically moves the airport.)

I must admit I hadn't tried that for a while - last time I tried it it didn't work, but you're several versions along since then!

Another feature: boundaries, if possible? The reason is that on LJLJ from the begining of the july, we got the ground ATC which covers only the main apron. I guess with boundary I can limit the ATC to cover only the main apron.

One feature that would many designers like but I guess very hard to implement: approaches in GUI way. jville explained some stuff around this forum, but still there are only abbreviations for coding approaches and I can use only my imagination what do they mean and how to use them (i.e fix types)

Best regards,

Multiple Select

Multiple select (and move) however would be very useful .. say to move a section eg apron, taxilinks, associated sign, parking and fuel to a new location, by multiply selecting them (eg Ctrl-click, or draw box) then dragging them to a new location.

Nice job.

Great tool..

One addition in the taixway signs would be to double side the sign and have one for amount of feet in thousands left on the runway, which is a black background with a white number. It would have one number on one side and a different number on the other side.

One bug I have found. I deleted some taxiway signs and recompiled, but they where still there in FSX.

Not sure if it is me or FSX Planner

Thanks
