    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.

    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.

Top Gun 2?

As soon as I heard this the plot popped into my head...

Tom Cruise is now the top instructor at the Top Gun Academy, long divorced from his fling from the first movie... An event of some sort happens somewhere on the opposite side of the globe and he's the only one with the experience, the techniques, and the looks that can take on the enemy single-handedly... OK, Iceman can come too.

I'll be it'll be an all out tear jerker... from laughter. I'm sorry, I should let it be because I was just a pessimistic about Star Trek (2009) and was surprizingly impressed.

Top Gun was an awesome movie...a quarter of a century ago.

You can't go home again, you can't recreate what they had back in 1986.

Just let it die...

To be honest, I don't think the movie has aged quite that well. Or maybe, I haven't... The flight sequences are still cool, but all the crappy love story kind of kills it. Plus if Maverick did even a quarter of the stunts he pulled in that movie, he would be out on his Rear Admiral so quick his head would spin. Just that drop below the hard deck probably would have washed him out of the school...

...of course, I don't think I'd get any resistance to the fact that it blew "Iron Eagle" out of the water. I think the only other aviation movie I laughed harder at was "Hot Shots"... but that was meant to be laughed at!

And yes, Maverick would've been flying a desk for quite some time... maybe not discharged, just disiplined.

Best line from Iron Eagle...

"Don't give me any of that 'but' stuff, dad...
