• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Hi Could some kind , patient person please explain slowly how I would get from this
ATC2.jpg
to a transparent version in MSFS
DYCE1.jpg
I have followed a few postings on here but it still does'nt want to appear transparent. I have the latest MCX dated 12/02/23 and I have applied transparency and set the alpha to blend. Have I missed something?

Hi,

Can you provide some more details? Are the windows textured with a texture that has an alpha channel for transparency or are the windows polygons with a material with just a transparent color?

Hi Arno, Firstly thanks for replying. Ok the object is imported into MCX as a x file along with their associated textures, which includes a texture for the windows. The window texture has other textures on the same sheet but only the window texture has a grey alpha layer, the rest has a white alpha. Pic 1 is where we are at.
I check the material tab and applied transparency, checked the alpha is on blend. I export as a gltf. file and import it into the sim through ADE. And this is how we get to pic2. No I know I've probably missed something but for the life of me I cant put my finger on it.
regards
Paul

What you did sounds OK. Did you let MCX export the textures to the MSFS package sources folder or did you do that manually? Check that the texture has the alpha channel there as well.

Hi Arno, I'm now having problems with MCX since updating it. I have started the process again, MCX with not load the bmp textures even if I manually point the program to them. But it will load .png versions and dds.
