• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Trim Speed

When using some aircraft, pressing the trim button results in it moving at different speeds at different times.

In some instances it'll move many times faster, meaning one has great difficulty in trimming for flight.

Is this just a pooly build flight model, or is it something one can change in the aircraft.cfg? I've lowered elevator trim effectiveness already, but this hasn't helped the variability in the rate of trim change.

aircraft.cfg

[flight_tuning]

elevator_trim_effectiveness= 0.10 // small value

&

[airplane_geometry]
...
...
...
elevator_trim_limit=60.00 // great value

= Trim moves slowly

But it also affects the autopilot (ALT mode).

Smashing, cheers.

If I press the trim button several times it starts to move faster to varying degrees, others slower is pressed once intermittently.

Doe anyone know know why this is?

Ah. I can't think of a situation where it would be a good idea to have this.

Sometimes frame rate affects the repeat of the key strokes and makes it do weird things. And sometimes something gets stuck and the thing increments in thirds instead of singles. It's kind of like that bug with the engine selectors where you can rarely get it to work right.

One possible solution is to make a trim gauge that traps the key stroke (or uses a click spot) and have it directly control the trim increment from there.
