• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi, I am now beginning to understand why my packages won't build anymore. If you have chance perhaps you could build this simple for me and explain what i have to do to make them work. Attached is the error I am now getting. So what's changed? Thanks. Neil

This compiled just fine for me. I drag'n'dropped it on the MSFS 2024 fspackagetool.
I don't understand. I have always built my models while in the sim. So all you do is drop the package on to the packagetool? I tried that but all it did was give me this-

I chased Dick's link to: https://devsupport.flightsimulator.com/

I then saw and read this troubleshooting thread:

https://devsupport.flightsimulator.com/t/fspackagetool-exe-launching-the-sim-2020-and-2024/14919/29

I believe it is reasonable to suggest that all reading this thread, check if they were affected by this compiler launcher issue, and got it fixed.

Obviously the new requirement for a Hint is the main topic here; but perhaps Neil might wish to confirm his compiler launcher is fixed.

Doesn't work on mine, just starts the sim and then crashes. I can't understand. What's changed. When I start 24 and go to any airfield (over 800) I have created, open dev mode, many of the models are now listed as `UNKNOWN'. All I want to know is what's changed and how to fix it.

Hi Neil:

I also was able to compile your project *.XML file within MSFS 2024 via [Build All] button, with no significant errors seen. :pushpin:

The project folder was built and a Packages folder was generated; the ModelLib was able to load in MCX.

FYI: I found that I was affected by the "regression glitch" in MSFS 2024 FSPackageTool.exe.

AFAIK, I may not be able to compile remotely until I do the manual fix.

I did try the "Batch file" method in the thread I linked above, but there was no response whatsoever to running the *.BAT.

I was instead forced to compile via the MSFS 2024 in-sim Scenery Editor.

[RANT_MODE_ON]

I will first have to 'find' my XBOX / MS Account login info before I do the uninstall / update / Re-install cited in the 'fix' process.

< I know I have the info likely to be required during the 'fix' steps ...somewhere... (so safe, I do not recall exactly where that is) >

Gawd, I HATE this MS non-sense; is MS hiring kids who grew up thinking consoles and mobile phones are actually computers ?

No excuses- and no prisoners- for this (accidentally-on-purpose ?) fiasco.

MS seems desperate to have unrestricted access to everything on ones computer, and refuses to let things work otherwise.

Firewall rules must be lax, or MSFS refuses to start unless it gets to "sync" with the Cloud ?

I do not want my content "sync-ed" with the Cloud.

And I do not want anything "streamed" from the Cloud.

I build expensive fast computers with vast amounts of drive space- so I can load fast ...from secure- and private- storage.

PS: For some comedy relief, I watched this YouTube flying video (this 'Illinois Boy', enjoyed seeing a "John Deere" livery):

< Skip to 6:30 elapsed time for the "hot RC action" bonus footage >

I thought that Neil, as a prolific creator of "FS Farm Strips", might appreciate this.
