• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Trouble setting up weight & balance (forward and backward limits)

My plane tips backward if I set my weight and balance so that the center of gravity falls in between forward and backward limits.

I think the main problem is the position of the wing and the MAC, causing the forward and rear limits to be drawn incorrectly in the aircraft weight & balance config screen.
If I put the center of gravity in between forward and rear limits, the plane tips backwards, which means this position should be behind my main gear. However, I have no clue how to position these forward and backward limits correctly. I can position them as a percentage of the Mean Aerodynamic Chord (MAC). But I don't know how to position this MAC. There's also a "pos apex lon" (longitudinal position of the center of lift, I presume, like 25% of MAC), but this is set to -2.563894 and if I change it and then save and resync, it gets put back to -2.563894.

wing_pos_apex_lon is the position of the front of the wing where it meets the fuselage. But it's not supported in MSFS.

You can adjust the wing position by aero_center_lift and compute_aero_center =0 in [AERODYNAMICS]

In the Aircraft Editor open the Debug - Sim Forces display and adjust the aero_center_lift so that the front line of green boxes are in line with the leading edge of your wing.

I don't think there is any debug window which graphically shows the current CoG which is unfortunate but if your CoG limits are around the 25% of MAC and your rear wheels are behind that position then you should be OK. The Debug - Aircraft Weight window will show your CoG limits as text.
