• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Tutuila help

Hi,

I am working on a scenery and need some help as to:
- whether I am correct in thinking I can use this scenery publicly (freeware);
- check on some bugs;
- check on how things look on other computers;
- check on how it looks like when disabling (changing photo bgl to bak) the photoreal so that the default adapted landclass appears;
- check on whether it is clear how to install it (once you know you have to set mesh to 1m and complexity high);
- check on default objects gone or not;
- check if included new mesh works ok;
etc.
The link (only for testing purposes and not in any way to be used for other purposes!) is: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/79138728/Tutuila.zip.
Tks,

Roby

Sorry for silly question but.. Why not to bake the texture with ambient occlusion ? To may opinion it could be more realistic. Now I had a look on Night Textures and made a conclusion that this scenery haven't been done with 3DS MAX, Just two options here G-MAX or Sketchup as they have no Such features. Oh, Sketchup can do with Light-up Plugin..or V-ray
After all you have done great job tho.

Hi Roby,

It apears to have been created with FSET? If so, no.

- check on some bugs;
There are several missing objects, eg.

I don't have time at the moment but I could find which file is referring to the missing objects.

Hi,

and appreciate the comments.
Yes, George, it is done with FSET but I thought that it might be freely useable because it is US territory.
Hiowever, the scenery can be used without the photoreal (took me quite some time to fill the airport and its surroundings with the right landclass) when deleting or changing the photoreal bgl extension to bak.
I will check what object or objects are missing.
FSFox, you are correct in thinking all objects are made with Sketchup and night textures could have been better. I will work a bit more on it.

Still a missing object, {612010f5-8fe5-4e7f-9437-6e45e98cfc05} referred to by NSTU_ADEX_RMCS_OBJ.BGL

The vehicle parking spot is not connected to the taxiway network.

I have none of the aircraft used in your traffic files.

You also seem to have a peculiar directory structure. I have simplified it to World\Scenery, Tutuila\Scenery and Ocean Flatten\Scenery.

Hi George,

Tks a lot for bothering to find out.
Shoot, I thought I had things covered now.
No, the vehicle parking spot is not connected, should I do that? It is not very lifelike unless I make a special vehicle (but that one would appear all over, wouldn't it?)
No, you probably will not have any of the aircraft in the traffic files. I have made no readme yet to point to the ones they need.
With respect to the directory structure, I have all my ADE overlay flattens in a seperate directory called ocean flattens in the addon scenery which I put on top of everything in the scenery library. Never thought of putting them in the scenery\world\scenery:o.
Will find the still missing object:o.
After that and using the scenery without the photoreal, do you think it is worth uploading or not (I mean, there are many sceneries that are much better but many that are worse as well and I tried to get things running smoothly on my old PC).

Hi,

The missing object with that GUID is the "gate_open" residing in the scenery\global\airport_buildings_01_AP.bgl.
Isn't it default in FSX? Where then would it come from?

That isn't a default bgl ;)

The airport isn't very AI friendly, I created a flightplan and this is the result.

On push-back from P13, the PA-31 crashes through the fence

On taxi-out, the PA-31 gets its port wing taken off :eek:

On taxi-in, firstly the starboard undercarriage is demolished

Followed by the starboard wing

There is no turn-round path at Rwy 23 so it leaves the runway before lining-up.

You have used alternate threshold markings on the runway, they should be normal.

Hi,

Found out GaryB-wise:) that the gate_open object comes from the St-Augustine(FL) scenery by Art Poole (it is freeware can be used for freeware projects, so I can add it to the lib).
I checked the AI friendliness and you are so right in pointing this out to me as it is not.
- I fixed the pushback quirk by adding nodes close to the parking spot center;
- I moved the palmtree and slightly moved the apron path to the GA parkings so no more damage to be expected there;
- I added a turn around for rwy 23;
- noticed that when rwy 23 was active and aircraft exited C, they stopped at the hold short and disappeared. Hold short was connected to three links and that appears to be a problem I was not aware of:o. Fixed that.
But:
- I did not use alternate threshold markings;
- I now have trouble again with the taxi line drawings;
- I still have to solve the approach to rwy 05 as AI flies to a waypoint to the north side of the island and then, descending, crosses the island too low and dives into the mountains. Think I have to study the threads about curved approaches first (and then probably have to ask JV for help:() to solve that matter.
I uploaded (in case you want to have a look at the workfile) the ad3 file and also the airport-buildings_01_AP.bgl:

Hi,

Sorry, I am confused as well because when checked I did not have alternate threshhold checked. When I just now checked again, I had the alternate threshhold checked. When I doubleDutchchecked I found I have two copies of the airport, one with the alternate threshhold checked and one without and I am not aware that I checked or unchecked it. The ad2 file has the alternate threshhold unchecked:confused:. Anyway, it is easy to remedy with the ad3 file uploaded. So much for my ranting:).
And while writing this, I found out (I have two brains but wished I had one better one instead) that there is nothing much I can do about default GA AI flying into the mountains as long as they fly a VFR flightplan.

Back to the taxi line drawing puzzle:yikes:.
