• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

FSXA Two different landing lights?

I am trying to find a way to somehow simulate two sets of landing lights in a 3rd party aircraft.

The default side by side landing lights are started with an extension of the lights from the fuselage to a forward position.

I want to create an additonal landing light also extending, but changing the light mode to an alternate 'flashing' mode (when starboard´side is on, port side is off and vice versa).

Any suggestions to how this must be done?

If it were not for the animated extension of the landing lights, I could just have replaced the default landing light with e.g. lights from the wing light mode.

Hi Heretic,

I am sorry, but I have a problem with that.

The aircraft is payware, so to show or send files would probably be considered piracy.

That isn't why he asked the question. If you don't have the source file(s), then there is absolutely no way you can modify the exterior model to add the type of lighting you want... ;)

Ok, I understand :)

I can add a new landing light effect through the Lights section in the aircraft cfg.
It would be nice to be able to turn off the landing lights without the animation, and then add an alternative effect.

But if this involves changes in the model, then I am not able to do that.

Second best option would be to place the alternative effect anyway without the animation, because the landing lights are close to the fuselage, so it would probably not be noticeable.
