• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Ultra Hi-Res Trees

......would be great to see some screenshots of your own Scenery Project under development, featuring Tree's from the Hi-Res Tree Library.

Regards,

Pete Beeby.

Hi Pete!

A few weeks ago you asked for some screenshots of our own Scenery Project using your Trees! Well, there you go ;-)

Thanks for the amazing Tree-Library btw!

PS: As you can see, they work perfectly within the new P3D v3!

...I'm very glad that you liked them !!

Many thanks for posting screenshots of the Hi Res Tree's within your Scenery Project. That also looks as if it coming along very nicely too!

......following on from an earlier post that I made seen here,

"some ( 2 sets ) of the pine trees on the 4096 x 4096 pixel texture sheet are what I call ' clustered ' . So for example , in the image below there are only actually 6 pine tree models in the scene. However when you look at them, it looks as if there are considerably more - ( it is possible to build up a densely wooded area very quickly indeed, adding other Tree types would make an even more varied appearance )

Capturex7ax_zps6pzd8qkf.jpg

All of the Tree's are designed with performance in mind. They are also designed complete with Seasonal texture's and with techniques now available, have the capability of switching Seasons automatically inside of FSX *.
Additionally, imagine being able to plant Tree's such as this, inside your own Custom Scenery whilst FSX is running. Well this is exactly what you can do *. The Tree's can be accurately positioned, adjusted for scale, rotation and
Tree type all at the click of a button and all at speed. Never again will the Trees accidentally be placed where you didn't want them, because you are able to see exactly what you are doing live in the Sim.

The general idea of this method, is that you would create several ( typically 5 or 6 lets say, you could do more if required ) Tree Scene area's, containing multiple or single Tree types.
The next Steps are taken outside of FSX and would require the use of design tools to implement the performance stage. It is possible to apply modern performance technique's, to each of the newly created Tree scene's using the
design tools . It is these techniques which ensure that the level of detail of the Trees , doe's not take a hit on the performance and frame rates of the Custom Scenery package overall.

* For best results, would require the use of both commercially available and non commercially available applications."

The Screenshots below, show how the technique of the " Clustered " Pine's I have talked about above, have been applied to one of our own Scenery's ( WIP ), to good effect.

Hi Pete,

these trees are outstanding (as all trees you have done so far). Precisely because ORBX has no comparible pines in the pipeline, your models are getting more and more important for a realistic appearance of Europe, especially the evergreen trees. Keep going this ambitious work!

..hello Manfred,

long time no speak LOL !!

Unfortunately, as mentioned earlier on in this post, any further development regarding Hi-Res Tree Models / Tree Model Texturing, was a abandoned along time ago. ( I have pretty much, given up doing any ' New ' design work at all now )
The reason for me posting, was to demonstrate how that particular design technique has been / is being applied in practice. I hope you'll notice, that the Scenery in the latest Screenshots, is Ian McCartney's FSX RAF Lakenheath project ( WIP ).

Pete Beeby.

.....for those of you that already have the Hi Res Tree Library, here is the Link for the updated ' Summer ' Texture sheet which includes the newly added ' Foliage ' at the base of the Conifer clusters.
The Texture has also been reworked to add a little more vibrancy. Displayed in the native 4096 x 4096 mode as intended, they look even more beautiful now.

Please follow all original instructions and usage guidelines found in this post previously.

I hope you like this modification, further seasonal variations are likely to follow.

hi Pete

I opened a conversation with you but you do not see the
Thank you I'll test your work inspires me.

it's true that for large area is ideal to several trees
on the same plane

....many thanks for showing an interest in my Hi-Res Tree Library FSX3D.

With regard to my work, It is only existing material that I have previously created, that has a possibility of being updated.

Unfortunately, there was simply not enough interest, in developing my Tree model designs any further, so any new designs ceased a long time ago now.

Pete Beeby.
