I have a grass airfield I'm making, and the grass tufts the sim puts everywhere are just too tall, they look about knee height. So I've worked out I can place aprons down wherever I want the grass to be 'mowed' set their surface type to remove the tufts and set their transparency to 0 so the original Bing Maps texture shows through.
I've made a custom material so that I can set the surface to whatever I like.
The issue is that only Cement, Bituminous and Tarmac actually remove the grass tufts. There's SHORT_GRASS and ERASE_GRASS but they don't actually make any difference to the tufts (I'm guessing ERASE_GRASS is supposed to do exactly that so maybe it's a bug?)
What differences to the surfaces actually make, do they affect the aircrafts' ground handling? Also, if they are, is there anywhere these are defined so I can look and see which of the non-tuft surfaces are closest to grass?
