Hello!

Developing an application that produce shapefile for shp2vec. Walking through examples I'm unable to understand, what is the purpose of uuid column in dbf file. Can I use dummy uuid (all zeroes) or should use some non-zero values?

Thanks in advance
Igor

Hi,

My understanding is also that they need to be unique. So it is best to assign a new random GUID to each of them. That's how I have done it in one of my tools.

As far as I can remember, the UUID is never used by shp2vec. I think it's original use was to set a drawing priority, but the Aces team never utilized this and drawing priority is random within the BGL.

A number is required, but not used.

Dick

That's good to know Dick.
