Hi,
I'm creating my first Flight sim aircraft (been a long (very long) slog learning everything). I've posted a couple of videos so I can get some feedback on it to see what I have done right and what I've done wrong and should redo. this has been by first time doing any blender, msfs, textures etc so any tips would be great
I built one IRL (the older RV-12, not the newer RV-12is model) so I have based it on that with the UK/EU avionics. This is normally Dynon Screen but I couldn't find one of those to use so had to go with the Garmin. It also has the 225 radio you get with the avionics kit which is bigger than the US version so there is no room for the autopilot panel (the radio is too tall). As I have not been able to get the DynonHDX display though I did consider changing it to match the US avionics kit instead as it now is using that screen anyway (ie change the radio and add the autopilot panel) but then it wouldn't be the one I wanted to build (ie the one I really built IRL) so not sure on that yet.
And a later one with the Garmin G3X display
A couple of points I learned along the way (for anyone else starting out).
1) don't go mad trying to reduce poly count on a small aircraft, compared to the large ones it is irrelevant. I now need to go back at some point and try to put more back in to get smoother lines
2) Blender will be frustrating to learn. So many ways of accidentally doing things and then spending hours trying to figure out how to undo them using features you don't know about yet. Save often and reload is normally quicker.
3) Trying to learn the MSFS system is hard and feels unwieldy. It can take a lot of time to figure out how to do/fix something
It is a long-term project and I keep coming back to it to add improvements. Currently, it flies within the general parameters of the RV-12 although I still haven't got it completely tuned (the stalling isn't quite the same) and the ground handling seems hard to configure (the RV-12 pulls to the left hard if you go full throttle, on soft grass it can be interesting to get the initial roll going as you need so much right brake due to the castering nosewheel it feels like you can't get it moving lol)
