• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

VC switch problems

I'm having an issue with a couple of switches on my VC panel, I have two seperate switches for [switch_panel_light] and [switch_nav_light] they both work but when I turn on the [switch_panel_light] the [switch_nav_light] turns on at the same time, I can then turn it off but then sometimes if I click one or the other it toggles the other switch (on or off) - weird :confused:

I don't know if there is some kind of dependency between the switches or what.

Also is there a switch for an overhead light VS the [switch_panel_light]?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Brian

The "default XML script" in the FSX modeldef.xml rather stupidly toggles BOTH the panel lights AND the nav lights!!!

To overcome this rediculous situation, edit the script to remove the stupid nav lights toggle!

Code:
    <PartInfo>
        <Name>switch_panel_light</Name>
        <AnimLength>50</AnimLength>
        <Animation>
            <Parameter>
                <Sim>
                    <Variable>LIGHT PANEL</Variable>
                    <Units>bool</Units>
                    <Scale>50</Scale>
                </Sim>
                <Lag>400</Lag>
            </Parameter>
        </Animation>
        <MouseRect>
            <Cursor>Hand</Cursor>
            <HelpID>HELPID_GAUGE_LIGHT_SWITCH_PANEL</HelpID>
            <TooltipID>TOOLTIPTEXT_LIGHT_SWITCH_PANEL</TooltipID>
<!--            <CallbackCode>(&gt;K:PANEL_LIGHTS_TOGGLE) (&gt;K:TOGGLE_NAV_LIGHTS)</CallbackCode> DISABLE OR REMOVE THIS LINE -->
            <CallbackCode>(&gt;K:PANEL_LIGHTS_TOGGLE)</CallbackCode>
        </MouseRect>
    </PartInfo>

For the "overhead light" add this to your modeldef.xml file:

Code:
<!-- Custom Animation GUIDs -->
<Animation name="switch_flood_light" guid="F4360074-83CF-47dc-B391-9B141F53A88C" length="50" type="Sim" typeParam2="switch_flood_light" typeParam="AutoPlay" />
<!-- END Custom Animation GUIDs -->

<!-- Custom XML Switches -->

  <PartInfo>
    <Name>switch_flood_light</Name>
    <AnimLength>50</AnimLength>
    <Animation>
      <Parameter>
        <Sim>
          <Variable>LIGHT CABIN</Variable>
          <Units>bool</Units>
          <Scale>50</Scale>
        </Sim>
        <Lag>400</Lag>
      </Parameter>
    </Animation>
    <MouseRect>
      <Cursor>Hand</Cursor>
      <TooltipID>TOOLTIPTEXT_LIGHT_SWITCH_CABIN</TooltipID>
      <MouseFlags>LeftSingle</MouseFlags>
      <CallbackCode>
        (&gt;K:TOGGLE_CABIN_LIGHTS)
      </CallbackCode>
    </MouseRect>
  </PartInfo>
