• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Virtual Cockpit Animations

Hello.

I have a new airplane with virtual 3d cockpit bougth from a freelance artist.
The price was high, so hope I will be able to finish the work, so it will work as it should.

I would like to know how to make the switches and guages in the virtual cockpit clickable, and to do what they are suppose to do.
I have FS Panel Studio, but its only for 2D Cockpit, which this airplane does not have.

The airplanes swithces and guages are not FSX ready.

Is there any easy way to do this? or only the hard way?
I suppose it is something with Animations, but am not sure how.

Please, some of you with the know how, please fill me in, so I can work on this virtual cockpit, and make it work in FSX.
It is a Bombardier CRJ 700, with Virtual cabin and cockpit.

I use Gmax.

FS Panel Studio certainly does support Virtual Cockpits!

But, you have to create the entries yourself using Notepad.exe before loading FSPS:

You need at least the following for each [VCockpitnn] entry you want:

Code:
//--------------------------------------------------------
[Vcockpit01]
file=MyVCbackground.bmp // only if you want to have a background image
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=1024,1024
visible=1
pixel_size=1024,1024
texture=$MyVC_01

As far as animating the 3d virtual cockpit, there are many tutorials from which to choose, but I'll warn you ahead of time, it is NOT a trivial matter. Do not expect to learn it in a few easy steps... :teacher:

I'd strongly suggest reading through the forums at http://freeflightdesign.com for more details, as well as sample XML script you'll need for any custom animation you need, plus reading the many tutorials and tips available.

I've been nagging the author for YEARS to add direct support for creating [VCockpitnn} entries...

...or at least add the information to the Help(less) file! :rolleyes:

Yea that would be a good move from the author.
Newbies such as my self, need al the help they can get. :rolleyes:
