• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi - just experimenting..........

Re - FSX aircraft mdls - I can see Visibility Conditions in the Hierarchy Viewer - is it possible within MCX to alter these values?
Cheers

Hi,

At the moment not yet. Any ideas on how to do that are welcome. Would you like to do it from the hierarchy viewer or would a separate editor be better?

Hi Arno
In the HV would be fantastic - but as always - which ever is easier for you.....
Cheers

I wonder also Arno if adjusting the Transformation values in the Hierarchy Viewer can be included as well........

Hi,

That might be a good idea. I'll see if I can make all the of the properties editable.

Thanks Arno - by the way when you select a model part in the Hierarchy Viewer - then click on the FSX model in the main viewing screen - the model part in HV becomes deselected so it is difficult to keep track of the part you last viewed....
Cheers

I expect the selection to appear again when the focus returns to the hierarchy viewer. But I think I can change a setting to show it all the time, let me check.

Thanks again Arno and yes it would be fantastic for all the parameters to be editable in the Hierarchy Viewer.
Cheers

Hi Arno

Re release 471:

[Arno Gerretsen] [ModelConverterX]
* When hierarchy viewer not in focus selected node remains highlighted in tree view
Issue 1564

Not fixed? Just letting you know that the same thing is still happening in HV when viewing an FSX mdl file in the main screen.

Cheers

Hi,

Here it works. The selecting node is highlighted in blue. When I switch focus to the preview it is still highlighted, but in gray.

Or are you making changes to the model while away from the hierarchy viewer? I would have to check what happens if a change is made, since then the hierarchy viewer is refreshed.

Hi again Arno
Yes - when changes are made and the HV is refreshed - it goes back to the first (top) ScreenGraphNode - any chance you can make it go back to the nearest position of the last change?
Cheers

Hi,

I think the color is determined by the windows color theme, but I'll check if I can change it.

I'll have a look at the refresh issue as well. It should be possible to store the previous selection somehow. In other editors I also do that.

Hi Arno
Just to let you know that I use a 'test' FSX aircraft mdl when each new development version is released. In v471 - it locks MCX whilst importing. I can import it using v467. In v467, using the Hierarchy Viewer - if I remove all the AttachedEffect entries in the first ScreenGraphNode - export and save - I can import the new file back into v471 without any problems. Has something changed in v471?
Cheers

Hi,

I would have to check, I didn't change the import logic on purpose. Does it also happen with other object or only that one?

Send from my phone using Tapatalk, so excuse the short sentences and possible typos

Hi Arno
It happens with some others - but not all of them by any means - perhaps v471 is slightly less tolerant.......

Is there a default aircraft or so that I can use to try to reproduce it? Or it only happens with addons?

Hi Arno
The default aircraft are fine - seems to be some addons - I can send you the file if you want?
Cheers
