• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Visual catalog of 3D Objects ?

Hi all,

Do you know if there’s somewhere a visual catalog of the 3D object available in the Scenery and Simobject library ? I'm brand new to Scenery editor, sorry if it had been asked before, despite my search I didn't any result.

I’m just out of my first airport (upgrade) with the Scenery Editor, KMYF San Diego Montgomery : https://flightsim.to/file/5856/montgomery-gibbs-exec-airport-taxiway-fix-and-many-more

I’m ok to browse the list from the Scenery Editor but it would be so much convenient to have a quick overlook of objects available.

Thank you for your help!

Hi Vincent,

The world is very small ;). Currently there is no software in the SDK or external software that allows this. The only way I found is to use the browser integrated in the DEV mod to add an object and then view it.

Another way less cheaper to do this and more consequent in terms of work is to copy the BGL you want to visualize on your hard disk and with the MCX Wizard to export each object in FBX / 3DS / OBJ (Wavefront) format.
With the 3D Browser of Mootools (https://www.mootools.com/en/software/3dbrowser) I can browse the created tree structure and visualize the object in 3D very easily with an integrated tool.
I use this software since many years with a good efficiency.

Hi guys,

you can load the stock library bgl files into MCX and let it create an html based list/report with previews ("Object report"). Some objects don't render correctly but most show perfectly fine. You can then either scroll through that catalog in your web browser or directly view the .jpg files in their respective folders.

Be aware that some of the larger libraries take several minutes to load.

Cheers, Holger

This tool is in the principal menu of ModelConverterX

Yes Holger, hangar library is amount 92 Mo so it take ... some times !
