• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Voice file for FSX atc

I am not having any luck with Editvoice pack's version of Winair. I tried adjusting but it still doesn't sound right. Is there a way to record my own voice doing the atc id of Winair and then converting it to be used for atc in FSX? Or am I asking too much?

The problem is timing and inflection. I guess you didn't understand. The Winair file is pronounced incorrectly with poor inflection. It's spoken too fast. There should be a very brief pause between Win and Air. Most of the sound files I have found sound similar to "winner" "winnar" or something else entirely. Oh well, I guess it's not possible to create true sounding airlines with Editvoice pack. Why not issue an update that includes a pause feature or some way to inject a very brief pause to the file.

Some airlines are hard to do correctly with EditVoicepack, some are easy. It all comes down to the sounds avaiable in the default FSX voicepack.

Why not release an update? Time. Features take time to implement, there are more projects I want to do than I could possible have time for, so all projects miss beneficials features I haven't had time to implement.

This specific feature you request even have an existing workaround, making it less beneficial to spend time on adding it.

Simply add a sound segment containing a bit of "silence". For example, if you add TWE_ADD_TRAFFIC_TAKEOFF_OTHER_RUNWAY_YES to voice 5 it contains a big silent piece in the middle. Unfortunately you have to do a bit of searching to find good silent parts for all voices, but rest assure it will never come close to the time I would have to spend implementing the feature - so if it's not worth your time to do this, it's certainly not worth my time to implement the feature. :)

If you take the time to find good silent parts, feel free to share the identifiers so others can benefit from it as well.

Hey you have it wrong, I didn't say I didn't have the time, just where to look for the necessary information. I guess with an attitude like yours, why would you want to implement anything!

The corollary of course is: with an entitlement attitude like your's, why should Lar's be inclined to spend any further time on this wonderful FREE tool...

Personally I do not believe you can read an "attitude" correctly out of forums posts, specifically not when people who are posting are not using their native language. I did not intent to show any "attitude", but - it's my second language, so it could easily happen. I also read your reply as quite offending, but then I can easily read it wrong, so I'll assume your intention wasn't to offend me. :)

I told you:
1) How to accomplish the goal you want.
2) Why I would not release an update (which you SPECIFICALLY asked).
If you have other questions, please feel free to ask.

And I am guessing (and it really is guessing) that it might have been the comment about the time you would have to spend on the workaround not being anything like the time I would have to spend on the feature. But these are the exact arguments developers use all the time when they determine which features to add. Did I formulate it in an offending way? Maybe, I wouldn't know - English is my second language and I work in an environment where we discuss this so often that we don't give it a second thought.

So I will continue to update the projects as time permits. Just yesterday I got 500 photos categorized (a project only for my own benefit, but I do not really separate projects into "my own stuff only" and "beneficial for others" buckets), and last weekend I completed 2 new buildings for Denmark Scenery. So things are slowly but surely progressing. :)

Lars, and all other FREE developers: Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your hard work. Even retired guys have other lives than flight sim, and those who are not retired but have jobs that provide for themselves and their families and still take time to make things for us to enjoy are the greatest. AVSIM, FLIGHTSIM, SIMVIATION, INDIAFOXTROTECHO AND MORE have thousands of files by these unselfish individuals. Even the payware developers are not charging a huge amount for all the work that goes into their aircraft, scenery etc. I have created textures, bmps a few gauges with a lot of help from the individuals here etc. to give back a little. Again, thank you all. Nobody has any right to knock these guys or be rude!
