• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v4 Water mask discoloration

Messages

I made a blend and water mask for photo scenery. Where the water blends with blending mask there is a clear line and water is slightly different color. My water and blending masks are blurred at the edges so I expected a gradual transition. Two questions. Is it possible to make the gradual transition? How to color match both waters?

Well, I will check the gradient but I think my water mask is by the rules. I saw a post where someone had exact same issue and the problem was that he was using URP - enhanced shaders addon. I'm using something similar, ENVSHADE. Maybe that's the problem here.

You would only have to gradually fade the blend mask, as that controls the blend.

Make it more gradual then. If you want to color match the two then you would have to change the photoreal.
Do the photoreal, water mask and the blend mask coincide? It looks like some blend, water masks or photoreal parts overlap.

The photo-real extends way into the sea and it's already quite gradual. Why the straight line as there would be no gradual blending mask at all, that's what's bothering me.

What exactly do you mean by that? My main concern is the straight line instead of gradual blending. I don't think PS is making discoloration because PS water is different at some places yet the blue tint is the same all around.

Seriously, no matter what I do there's a difference in color where the photo scenery water is and where it's just landclass water. The color has nothnig to do with the photo scenery beneath water because I changed the "background" color several times but the color of the water always stayed the same. So, it's just that, where the PS water is the color of water is slightly different than the landclass water. I didn't find ANY solution at all.
