• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

Hello!

As you can see on the screen I have problems with the water in front of the runway. Is there a possibility to get water on the normal level using ADE?

I already tried a flattern poly (set to zero) but it has no effect :(

Thank you very much!

Holger

Hi,

I am not sure where the runway is but,
it looks as if there is a default flatten that extends too far into the sea. You will have to get rid of that one first and then make a new one exactly the size of the airport at the level of the airport.

Thank you for your reply!

I think you are right that the default flattern extends too far. Can I edit this flattern with ADE?

I yes how can it be done or which part of the manual declare it?

Thanks,
Holger

Hi,

I suppose you are on FSX?
I do not have fsx with me but f I remember correctly, it is just a matter of making a small polygon and tag it as an exclude airport backgrounds'' or flattens (I am not sure). Maybe someone else can confirm this.
Once the default flatten is deleted, you make a new flatten of the correct size and you are done (or done for if that is not the problem:D).

Hi,

yes I´m with FSX ;)

Making a new poly or flattern is not the problem. The problem is to find the default one and to delete it. It is not shown in ADE and I have now idea how I can make it visible.

Hi,

No, it would not be shown i ADE, but that is not a problem. Just make a small exclusion polygon somewhere inside the presumed default flatten.
I.e.:add polygon > exclude specific (terrain polygons) > AirportBackgrounds>FlattenMaskclassmapAutogen or just AirportBackgrounds>Flatten

Hi Holger,
you can check the position and layout of the default flatten with TmfViewer (see SDK). This (green area) for example is the default flatten of LPOV.

It is possible to create water on a different level as the field elevation in ADE. Just draw a separate Airport Background (Flatten Exclude Autogen).

Thank you!

Works fine :)

Another way also works. I have identified the polygone which set the default airport flattern. It has the same number like the stock airport and is located in the same folder. I deleted it and created a new custom airport flattern. Works also fine and it is easy to do.

I' d never touch the default files! You mean that you deleted the cvx____.bgl which contains the flatten of the airport you are working on?
Look at the size of that file - hope you made a backup of it!?

Yes, of course I made backup. But you are right. Seems not to be good way as it includes a big area (watched withTmfViewer).

I think I will prefer to create a seperate airport background :)

Thank you,
Holger
