• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Weapons Online

Good day,

I have installed the free weapons pack from Chris Sykes (found on Simviation.com), and although it is working fine, a friend and me have tested it using Vatsim (the only way we could load a saved flight for online session) and the weapons doesnt show up on each others screen. We sould only see our own weapons.

WHy is that, and is there a way around it so it show up on each other's screens as well?

Best Regards,

Jakes

I doubt the Vatsim client transmits any information about the weapons addon, regardless of which one you are using.

Ik, but where will I find info on VATSIM (or even direct connections) data being sent?

I don't think it is possible in VATSIM or IVAO networks. To show it there it must be an MTL, without it it is not possible. Network is not recognizing object as valid network object, but as scenery one.

Accroding to how I understand the inner workings, and this comes from the days I played over at the VUSAF organisation. Most addons will not transmit over the Vatsim network as it would increase bandwidth use to and from, costing more money. Vatsim is very adamant about their bandwidth, as it is all donated, but not unlimited. Only the necessary parts will show. Also, the network if I recall uses a repository of aircraft models and paints for its usage, although not 100% sure. Otherwise its the defaults that show. The client may have something to do with it as well. FSInn and Squawkbox both have a modelset. I have a F16 that I use and when I fly it, others only see a C182 traveling at 800kts.

For weapons usage most of the virtual military forces use Janes or similar combat sims to do their weapons flights.

The only way around this on the Vatsim network is to model the weapons onto the aircraft itself, not as an additional feature. But that is assuming the network uses user aircraft as well as repository aircraft.

For FSX since there are fighters in Acceleration, it may work that way but IDK as I havent checked.

At both networks you have this:
qte
===
Rules and Regulations

Covering Military and Special Operations in VATSim

N.B. Any activity designed to simulate the destruction of persons or property through the use of main force (warfare, insurgency, terrorism or associated violent acts) is prohibited on the VATSim network

===
uqte

Then if really need need to brake the rules and to be shown to everyone on the network, you have to load all of your weapons as separate connection(other rule violation for multiple loading), but still will be invisible as there isn't available MTL for rockets and/or bombs....
Both are civil ATC networks build with no military action in mind..
