• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

What is wrong in my Scenproc commands, no AGN

Hi,

My first Scenproc test gave me 0 AGN. I use a SHP georeferenced from a DXF

The AGN should go on a big city photoreal BGL so do not need to have texture set for the autogen?

Here is the capture of the commands I wrote and below a capture of the footprints in QGIS

Thanks

In fact that you have only one shape file with only polygon features inside you can omit the filters to see it it works. Just use the |*|

Hi,

I tried that but I kept getting commands errors telling me that I need for example 3 arguments etc.

Arno's tutorial did not have all arguments in his commands but I think this is a new version where all arguments are required who knows?

I noticed in the screen capture that a portion of the compilation log is missing on the top, in fact all was ok, it mentioned that it found some 2500 somthing elements in the SHP file.

Arno, do you think I need to check any specific option when exporting the SHP file from the GIS tool?

Thanks
Michel

Hi,

Are you sure the shapefile is using wgs84 coordinates?

For the rest it looks ok, only the filter for the buildings is a bit weird, it has a * at the end, not sure if that works, since you have some filters before already.

Hi Arno,

Thanks for the help. I will try to see if the SHP is WGS84 when home. But I chose WGS84 when I loaded the DXF file to geo reference it and export it to SHP.

Also for the buildings filtering command, Scenproc gives me syntax error (i.e: 3 arguments required or something similar) if I do not put the "*|" ? Or could it be that another syntax is missing from the line?

BTW, I placed the SHP file here in case you wish to take a look at it:

Thanks

Hi,

Can't view the shapefile, because the shx and dbf files are missing.

For the filter, I mean you have FTYPE=POLYGON;FROMFILE=Ras-Beirut.shp;* at the moment. Either you use FTYPE=POLYGON;FROMFILE=Ras-Beirut.shp or you use only * for the filter.

Oh sure, I have the other files on my home PC, will re-upload this evening

And I will try again the Filter command line at home to see if it works. I remember Scenproc mentioned missing arguments but will try again for sure

Thanks Arno

Ok so by tweaking the commands, I succeeded to get AGN files created in texture folder :)

Now in FSX, I see no Autogen buildings at all.

So I went to Annotator and opened my satellite BGL part where they should be and I saw many of them in Annotator (except for a portion / tile that is empty)

So at least they are at the proper coordinates, however I saw them shifted a bit from where they should be in Annotator. Strange becaise I have georeferenced the original DXF using the same satellite image I have as a photoreal in FSX.

So now need to know why FSX is not displaying the autogen despite the fact Annotator sais there are there!

Any idea?

Thanks
Michel

Could it be you have other scenery around that is suppressing the autogen? For example runways, ground polygons, etc?

This is what I thought at first so I disabled custom scenery in the surroundings. Then I made a temporary scenery entry in fsx library just with the satellite photoreal bgl for thr city and scenproc agn but still not there.

Thanks

Just an idea... couldn't be a GenericBuilding GUID error (not available in your FSX "roofdescription") ?

Good point thanks, will check it again but I have copied and pasted it from the online library guide (Roofs section)

It's the flat roof GUID actualy

Thanks
Michel
