• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Where is the flatten?

Folks, I have a wierd problem (but less about me!).
Recently I installed an EGCC FSX airport to fit in with Horizon's Photo scenery. Did a quick check to see if it lined up OK and was satisfied. Did not fly there though.
2 days ago I decided to land there and noticed a distinct absence of AI traffic. Checking elsewhere showed me that it existed normally at other airports, but not EGCC. Aircraft do however land and park there normally, just no AI at the gates when starting up. I tracked one flight using Traffic Toolbox Explorer and it seemed to approach lower than usual, so this leads me to conclude that a flatten has somehow been created or downloaded when I tried a previous 'AFCAD' which I found when starting to create my own sloping flattens for EGCC to remove the cliffs around the boundary, but did not complete the SBuilderX project.
Problem is I cannot find it.

I have removed all the EGCC files that I can recognise (except for the base FSX one, 3rd party as well as my own flattens), to see if this corrects but no joy.

Anybody any ideas as to finding the rogue file! I do not want to re-install everything again, but see this as my only option.

Regards all

flatten?

George,
Found it on AVSIM, but still have the zip so checked for any cvx_ file, just the bgl. I have disabled this however.

I have a memory of downloading and installing one which claimed to remove the cliffs. The visual line-up was not good however so I deleted the airport bgl. As it removed the cliffs there must be a flatten somewhere, but I cannot find it. I am also unable to find the download on any site. I wonder if it has been removed due to this issue:confused:

Cheers

UPDATE on where's the flatten

Folks, should be where's the traffic at EGCC.
In my attempts to find the file causing the problem I disabled ALL the Addon Scenery folders, including the photoscenery and the provided EURW folder.

No difference.

I am totally stumped as to why this airport does not set itself up with AI traffic. updated or the FSX basic version!

Confused of Rainford...:confused::confused::confused:

Do you have a mix of FS9 and FSX format traffic files? If so, one or the other will not show.

The default traffic file shows there should be a 737 leaving EGCC every 6 hours starting at 03:21:00 and another every 12 hours at 00:49. Note, your traffic percent should be at least 93% to see both of these. There are various other departures, including an MD-83.

Traffic files

Goerge,
All traffic files FSX format. I have also re-introduced these incrementally. The traffic files are OK for all other airports visited, and in-flight into EGCC are visible through Traffic Toolbox explorer. These flights also leave the airport as scheduled.

I am now working on the theory that the traffic file is getting corrupted when converting from the FS9 format file produced by the Ultimate Traffix X application, obviously NOT FSX format as my FSX formatted flights vanish when installed without conversion. AIFPC is used to convert, and after some correction of flight levels decompiled as '0' I can compile successfully.

Next plan is to use the FS9 base file to see it this works, then convert using 2 separate utilities and trying each in turn to see if any corruptions are introduced.

Luckily my son is off the PC this evening, time to play:)

Best Regards

I'm afraid I cannot help you Charlie, all of my traffic files are in FS9 format. I used AIFPC to convert the default trafficaircraft.bgl.

Here is a 737 from the default traffic bgl at 0900:

Thanks anyway

George,

Thanks for responding anyway, this is a doozie!.
Awaiting the SP2 'fix' with Acceleration pre-ordered from Just Flight but not yet received. Have decided that if my traffic tests are unsuccessful to rebuild from scratch on a new disk volume.

I will update this thread in case anybody else has this problem.

Cheers

Working again (for now)

I said I would update it, so here goes.
I took out all fsx traffic files and copied over a newly created FS9 format file. - WORKED -
I converted the FS9 file to FSX format and replaced the FS9 file - WORKED -
I reintroduced the 'Boats' traffic - WORKED -
I added in the other (7) traffic files 1 by 1 and restarted each time. - WORKED until the 7th was included, then no EGCC traffic -
I removed this last file but still no traffic.
Went back to loading from scratch, stopping at the 6th file, - WORKING -

Conclusion / Assumptions.
Either limit to volume of AI traffic allowed or
Limit of files that can be loaded or
Last file corrupts something which hangs on until a full traffic clean-up is performed.

I cannot figure out which explanation, if any, is valid but hope that may experiences may help another simmer who suffers the same fate.

Regards to all

Hi Charlie,

If there is a limit on the number of traffic files, I don't think it is as low as that. Currently I am using about 20 without a problem.

file limits

George,
To be honest I thought that as I am sure that I had many more small ones before combining them. Just confused now:confused:
