• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Our previous attempt to let people indicate clearly which FS version their problem relates to did not really work. Most of the threads are still posted without this useful information.

So now we have installed a little plugin that lets you easily specify which version your problem relates to. And for all development related forums it is required to enter this information. This way other people can see more clearly what you ean and hopefully you get better answers as well.

Below you see a screenshot of how it looks when you create a new thread. And it is require to enter something, so you will get an error if you forget.

I have changed it from radio buttons to a drop down box now. So the screenshot is not 100% accurate anymore.
 
Unfortunately, since it "defaults" to N/A, this still isn't going to work as expected... :eek:

Maybe if you add a "blank" as the first item on the picklist it might force the poster to pay attention!

May I suggest to set this also for those who do a reply ?
If I answer or add something related to another FS version... and I forget it, it will confuse everybody.
And it's probably more simply to have one item (reply and new thread) setup in the same way. :rolleyes:

Agreed, there is an option to force the user entering, but that does not work with a dropdown box. I tried it with radio buttons (see the first screenshot), but then the layout is so confused that you can't see clear which radio button belongs to which label.

So that is why I changed it to dropdown, till we can figure out that layout problem.

The whole reason of this option is that we want to make people more aware of the version that a question relates to, so that they give an answer that applies to that version as well. So then the reply does not need this setting, as it should be for the same version.
 
Option set back to the radio buttons, but now the layout is much clearer. So now it is really required to enter something :).
