• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

White patch on REG# area

So I'm new to this whole creating liveries thing. Still in the process of figuring stuff out. Originally I didnt paint the Reg# area in Blender and it resulted in a white patch where the Reg# goes. I did it all over again this time painting the Reg# area and I got the same results. The picture is of me and my father. We see ourselves normally but see one another with the white patch over the Reg# area. Can someone please help me figure this out. Thanks for your time

Read first and heed the note in my last line...

If you drill down the filing tree until you reach the folder with the aircraft.cfg in it, you'll also see a folder named "panel". Open it.

(hint: F:\msfs\Official\OneStore\asobo-aircraft-c172sp-classic\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_C172sp_classic) - hopefully though, you'll be doing this on a repaint in the community folder.

You'll see a file panel.cfg - open it in notepad.

At the bottom of the text you will see:

[VPainting01]
size_mm = 256, 64
texture = $RegistrationNumber
location = interior
painting00=Registration/Registration.html?font_color=white, 0, 0, 256, 64

[VPainting02]
size_mm = 1024, 256
texture = $RegistrationNumber
location = exterior
painting00=Registration/Registration.html?font_color=0x49668e, 0, 0, 1024, 256

Obviously VPainting01 places the tail number in your cockpit and VPainting02 is that white patch in your screenshot. From what little I understand the two numbers in size_mm = 256, 64 are the box size. and the group of four below affect the text start position and size... 0, 0, places the text top left start position and 1024, 256 the bottom right end pos.

Now you can change all those numbers in both blocks to 0 and the white blocks in your cockpit and on the side of the fuselage will disappear.

It's not a perfect solution, I know, but it works. And of course: DON'T FORGET TO MAKE A BACKUP OUTSIDE OF THE GAME FOLDERS
