• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

"This means that Norman Blackburn (870575), Supervisor,

the matter to a Divisional Conflict Resolution Manager (DCRM) for
investigation. The Supervisor will no longer be involved with this matter."

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One, they give them BS numbers...as if they are licensed and certified.. (I just peed myself a little....) Then, and it took me 10 minutes to type this, as I was laughing so hard.... Divisional Conflict Resolution Manager!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet this geek ass loser actually has business cards printed up with that on it.. Anyone want to take that bet???????????????????????????????

** In a hick country sounding voice: "Yeah, I may only be 14, but I am the Divisional Conflict Resolution Manager for a major flight operation.. here, look at my business cards! Tell 'em mom!!!"**

(I just peed some more!!!!!) LMAO :rotfl: :wizard:

I agree, that's kind of ridiculous considering you pointed out you were here specifically to test the Transponder...

I also agree that flying on VATSIM will inevitably lead to dealing with rude controllers, but seeing as I am still "a child" in the eyes of authorities (mind yourself, I am 16, and age ultimately has NOTHING to do with maturity), flying on VATSIM may be my only way to feel like I'm flying.

I WILL, however, ALWAYS take real flying over VATSIM flying any day! :)

My 2 cents...

I joined VATSIM a couple years ago but after reading the literature, I was intimidated to try and kept flying either FS ATC or Radarcontact ATC. Then I took the plunge when I joined a VA. I had been a private pilot for a while but through financial circumstances couldn't do that any more. In real life I had no problems with real controllers the couple years I flew off and on in a C150.

Anyway, I took off one night from KSEA about 10:00PM with two controllers online told them I was a newbie like the lit suggests and had a great flight with helpful controllers a year ago.

Now that I fly virtually all over the world I think it is fantastic to interact with the many different controllers and have never had a bad experience. I have been "scolded" a couple times on the ground but it was my impatient fault and quickly forgiven.

I now have 200-250 hours of VATSIM flights military and civilian since I am in two VA's. Having a great time. Glad I have NOT had any bad experiences.

BTW I have flown with NE controllers on my way to Europe or Middle East no problems. I guess the "Good Guys" were online.

:)

I joined VATSim and have only flown on it a few times. I learned to fly in a Cessna 172 with the tail number "54023" so I used that on my VATSim C172. The controller told me to use a "realistic" tail number and made me log off and put an N in front of it. They wouldn't believe me when I told them that 54023 was the actual number on the C172 I learned to fly in. I logged over 200 hours in that airplane back in '86 and '87. The number has some sentimental value to me.

I always used to be on VATSIM.

Had great moments, but alot of bad moments. Alot of controllers I came across were either kids abusing the "powers" or adults being grumpy.

Example of the kid, I was once flying the 747 from PMDG, I flew into Heathrow and this kid (well, sounded like a kid) told me to taxi into a gate which was way too small for a 747 (tail was way out over the taxiway behind me where if someone tried to taxi passed me, we would both get a "crash!") so I notified the controller "Im in a 747-400 that gate is not meant for a 747" he then said okay and gave me instructions to taxi to T5, so I did, seemed fine, he learnt a little lesson. But, just before I cut off the engines I had a VATSIM mod message me telling me off that I was "ignoring controllers instructions", "making my own decisions in a controlled airspace", "violating the terms and conditions"... I got banned for 7 days.

Example of the grumpy adult controller, now this guy was mumbling, wasn't being clear, and got annoyed every time I asked him to repeat his last transmission, is when he would then shout at me telling me, I shrugged it off and got on with what it was I and he wanted me to do. When I got to the hold short area of the runway, I notified the controller, let him know I was holding short etc, he egnored me, controlled about 6 other planes in to land, and then had the audacity to tell one pilot that I was careless and impatient, but I never said or done anything, just sitting their like a duck on the hold short line!

Of course I met my fair share of annoyed pilots that like to taxi straight through me etc or send me messages such as "boeing sucks you british fag" over and over again... by then I had left VATSIM and joined virtual air force orgs, after them is when I started making scenery, which now the only time I fly is around the scenery of what I am working on!

Signed up once many moons ago and have never flown there. Most of my time is with my "developing " and fly only to test my stuff....only when I am without ideas I take a looooong flight to freshen up.....

I havent looked at the total hours I have on Vatsim... Love it... I fly there almost exclusively now... Otherwise, its some multiplayer get-togethers here and there with the "Goodtimes Gang" at Flightsim.com Multiplayer Adventures... I currently house the multiplayer, teamspeak3, and ibnet servers for them. (as well as my 2 LiveATC feeds I upload to Dave's LiveATC website/servers)..

I have really enjoyed my flights on Vatsim... However I HATE SquawkBox... I use FSInn... Personally I think it runs so much nicer, and handles multiplayer a/c much better...

As for rude controllers, I have only encountered 1 or 2, and thats only one or two instances... Most of the flights have been great... Most of the controllers have been helpful and professional... I have had, overall, a very positive experience with Vatsim, and I have spent many hours there... I would have to log in, I suppose, and see how many...

I think its a blast, especially when an airport is fully staffed; delivery, ground, tower, more than one approach/departure, center... someone threw down an ATIS loop.... tons of planes on the ground going out and coming in, freq switching, lots going on, I fly PMDG planes, so lots of switches to switch, TCAS bitchin at me cuz of all the traffic... When ya pull a heavy/busy jet up and outta that mess, THATS Fun!!!!!

So, Its between flying on Vatsim, and developing... I go back and forth... when I do too much of one, I need the other...

Oh, don't get me started...

...Two minutes after that human message was sent, this came in:...

I finally managed to log on one more time, test my xpndr code, log off and I've never been back.

Bunch of Pilot/controller wannabes who take themselves a bit too seriously, perhaps?
Or maybe I'm being too cynical.

VATSIM has had its share of problems dealing with clowns in the past, though.

"has referred the matter to a Divisional Conflict Resolution Manager (DCRM) for
investigation"

Did you have a chance to hire a Virtual Barrister and have your case heard by a Virtual Jury?

Perhaps it could be decided by a Divisional Diversional Virtual Conflict Resolution Hearing Panel (DDVCRHP) instead and save you the Virtual Legal costs.

Too funny, I'm afraid. I thought govt beaurocrats were the only people who made up ridiculous positions and names like this.

The virtual job application notices that arrived in my Vatsim inbox were comical ...

@Spectro, the numbers are just your member number (I think I had/have one) ... but yeah, he probably has business cards printed up with them.

Haven't been online for "quite some time". Who has time to fly, anyway.

Not Vatsim but Multiplayer

Up until a year or so ago I flew offline in Free flight but
once I got back into online flying I pretty much abandoned the offline aspect of FSx.

I spend most all of my FSX time now, when not messing
with code or scenery, flying online on the Digital Themepark
servers with the 91st Bombardment Group (H).

We fly the A2A Accu-Sim aircraft and fly re-creations of
the WWII missions that the 91st flew. Aside from the
missions and traing flights, this medium provides a
great multi-national social environment without a lot
of restrictions.

In the 90's I often spent a hundred hours a month flying
Air Warrior at $6/hour so being able to fly 100's of hours
now "for free" is much to my liking :)

I've been flying VATSIM for 90% of my sim time since i join a VA, and now racking 500+ hours. So far, it's a nice multiplayer, and i fly exclusively on VATSIM when I'm in serious flying (when flying for VA).

As for grumpy controller, in my (dirt cheap) point of view, i can - sometimes - accept them. It seems that they have to control too much (mind you, i did was registered at VATUSA for controller, though at the lowest grade. Hate the job, and decided to return for flying instead) for such a hobbyist thing. I did saw one have to control ATIS, clearance, tower (for 3 airports), departure, center and arrival, all at the same time (in both voice and text), since he is the only controller there, and there are about 15 planes (5 are big jets having a formation flying) and his airspace managed 3 airports at the same time. I think VATSIM might have to fix the rule so that they reduce the workload for that, because it seems unbalanced because the airspace next to that poor controller have no plane coming in at all!

Also, IDK for the rule enforcement (never got any during my service so far), but i think it's needed at some point. Why? Because i did fly for IVAO, and was flying Singapore-Delhi leg, where i have to go around because an i**ot n00b thinking that it was his airspace, so he can fly whatever the way that kid want. The controller seems giving him too much comfort for doing that (by not kicking him out), which irks me, since i try to fly realistically, and that means I don't think i can't call KC-135 or any KC-10 to fill my 777 tank to be on holding pattern for endless amount of time!

So, so far i love my VATSIM. It might be too strict, but i love that strictness, at least to make flying, in some ways, more orderly and realistic, though your personal opinion may differ to me.

I had over 5000 hours I believe but since a month ago they have permanently banned me from joining the servers. They have a Facebook page and they considering that their rules to extend there also. I made a funny joke while everyone was ranting and raving about something and my 2 day ban turns into permanently because I disrespected a SUP. Plus there is a "Conflict Resolution Manager" name Norman Blackburn and he hates me to the core. I think hes been looking to get me suspended since I first joined. Well his day as come!

I fly on Vatsim and IVAO. Now Vatsim the last few years ATC wise has become a rude and ignorant game of ATC arm chair controllers. But I still fly and stick to Edmonton, Winnipeg CTR's and Siberia Region and down under. I stay away from the Rest of Canada and the US and Europe due to snot head arm chair attitudes. IVAO is way much worse and specially in the US where most ATC don't even speak English and get a attitude with me for speaking English and not there tongue. Lucky I'm normally hanging out in the Arctic and Siberia and very rare have to put up with armchair ATC's. what they need is a lesson that Simulated ATC is vast different then RW and there Attitude and approach in the Simulated ATC would get them canned and imprisoned for there actions in the RW.

What ARTCC's do you encounter rude controllers? I can speak for ZMA, we dont do rude controllers. If you are rude, your gone. Our ATM wont tolerate disrespectful or rude operations.

Send me a PM with the ARTCC or FIR and I will see what can be done about the rudeness.

Also, in your chat program, if you have a rude controller, type .wallop Help and a supervisor will be with you within a minute or 2. Any text communications, try to screen shot it. If its voice, then it can only be proven with recording (recording audio is illegal in some countries, including the USA, without informing all parties they are being recorded.)

Note: This is for VATSIM.

I used to fly IVAO, have passed couple of exams there too. Last flight was 3 years ago. Now FSX is for development only. "Render Engine" :D
