• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Why do ai aircraft.....

Hi

Has anyone figured out how FS9 handles which runways ai aircraft use?

I've noticed on airports with 2 active runways the ai aircraft will use only one
runway. I know in AFCAD I can block Landing or Takeoff on runways so ai will
land on one and take off on the other. But it would be nice to have ai using both
runways all the time for takeoff and landing.

What's up with that? :)

From my observations, the AI aircraft will use the same runways that ATC directs you to use. Generally, this is the nearest runway, unless, it is closed in one direction or another, or if it is not connected to a taxiway.

In my Bangkok scenery, there is two runways, and both get evenly used for landing due to the nature of the arriving flights. However, typically, only one gets used for takeoffs, since it is closer to the terminal than the other.

If fr some reason, the ATC refuses to let an AI aircraft use a particular runway, then I'm thinking that it must be closed, or open in the wrong direction.

Hi,

You can make overlays.

Thanks guy.

I think at the one airport it's the fact the north runway is much closer to the
parking & gates.

Along the lines of what CanadaKen said above, you can "break" a taxiway using AFCAD so that aircraft can't taxi to a certain runway for takeoff.
