• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Windows Add/Remove programs list question

Referring to the column labeled 'Location' , where does that path shown come from? Is it from the installer? I am using VB.Net 2008 and I can't see anywhere to have this location show up.

I am using Windows 7.

Thanks.

Perhaps you could post the path you are looking at. Or are you looking for the path to VB.net?

If you look at the control panel add/remove software list there is a column you can choose to show called 'location'. It shows where the software are installed.

Some software have a path and other don't. I was wondering how to have an entry in that 'location' column when creating a software installation package.

From my "experienced novice" knowledge of the registry I'd bet the information displayed in the control panel is either within the key for the control panel or most likely whatever key(s) created by the program's installer. I've seen quite a few programs not referencing an "installation location" within their registry entries which leads me to believe that the installer/uninstaller used for said program has all the information either internally or in a configuration file created at install... something the Control Panel doesn't interact with.

Don't know if this helps or it just sounds like babbling...
