• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Wrong Lat Lon

Hi Folks.

Just starting out with some airfield reworking in FS9 and you know how it is!! One thing leads to another...I have now decided that I have to expand the grass texture around the field so that I can then lay in some new concrete for extra buildings etc.

I am following a tutorial by Scott Smart for redesigning airfields which has worked fine up to the point of opening the VTP bgl in Sbuilder. I have to say that I am using the field I am developing rather than the one that Scott uses but the principle is the same. When I open the ABxxxxx.bgl file the Lat coordinate is not far away but the Lon is way different. I am looking for 1 degree W but get 177 degrees E in the bottom of the Sbuilder window. I have tried using the View> Go To Position option to reposition but still the same Lon figure. I wondered if I had the wrong bgl but it is the one that LWMViewer put in.

I assume I am doing something wrong but can't think what. Any ideas, hints or tips?

Cheers...Kenny

What is the AB9 file you're trying to append? Also maybe the name of the airfield if there is a default one.

Hello Scott.

Thanks for pitching in with this, I appreciate it. I am working on La Rochelle in France LFBH. It is an airfield that some friends and I use as a training base and also as a destination for nav ex's.

I am trying to alter the Land Class so that the urban landscape does not come right up to the edge of the field. I am using a well known sat. based mapping prog to give me the real world image and Sbuilder to do the poly's.

I am a beginner at this and am also using ADE and SAMM to rework and populate the field. So it is a steep but enjoyable learning curve for me.

I am probably not doing something correctly but I seem to be getting wrong Lon co-ordinates in Sbuilder.

The file in question is this one:- AB947150, this is the file that LWMViewer gives me and it is located in the folder .....FS9\Scenery\Eurw\Scenery

For some reason when I append this into Sbuilder it is giving me the wrong Lon position, ie E177 instead of W1. At least that is what shows in the bottom of the screen.

My wife says that I should follow your tutorial exactly to see what happens but I assumed that the principle was the same for any airport.

Your thoughts on this are appreciated.
Regards...Kenny
