• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

WU7 : why do they propose same landmarks than me

Quite upset about WU7 : why do they include landmarks that developpers already propose for free.
I developped 3 astronomical observatories in Australia.
It seems they also find out that observatories make nice POI, there's 4 in WU7 !
Including the 3 i already published.
The version they propose in the game is not better. For example MaunaKea observatory has many errors.
OK, people will prefer Asobo version, because installation is much easier that downloading/installing.
But the problem is i cannot use my own work anymore, nore the fans that prefer my work.

So the question is :
- is there a way to exclude an in-game landmark, using the SDK. I tried with polygons, and exclusion rectangles, but it does not work

You need an ExclusionRectangle to get rid of the library objects, and a rectangle to exclude the procedural (OSM) buildings. Attached is an example to rid the Siding Spring Observatory and support buildings. Use the code as a template if you need. I don't know of a way to get rid of the Marker.

The free mods do not work in xBox, and xBox is an important market for MS. Only the stuff in the Marketplace can be downloaded to xBox as far as I have understood. So I suppose freeware stuff on flightsim.to and other sites don't matter when they decide what to include. Keep up the good work for PC simmers! :)

I believe Microsoft/Asobo reserves the right to commandeer any or all addons, or their concepts. It's their sandbox, and they can do whatever they like. Perhaps someone there saw your addon, and just decided to include those observatories in the updates.

Library exclusion isn't completely consistent for me. There are several offensive items at Helgoland that were added with the Germany world update that refuse to be exluded. They're all in the fs-base object list so I'm not totally sure what's going on.

It may be that you can exclude from hand crafted airports, but not anything placed in POIs or world updates. Either way it's rather annoying.

Edit - For some reason renaming and cleaning the package made the excludes work. How odd.

As for the thread's actual subject, out of the five hand crafted airports I'd already done four of them. Them's the breaks.

Not sure the takeaway here. MS will never put the loving attention into my sceneries which uncountable hours of contemplation produce. One would hope, we would hope, that we would never have to perfect that difference of perspective, that MS would produce our baby, exactly as anticipated. In between, lies opportunity for developers, imo.

Some dude did my home airport, a little regional field, an hour east of Portland Oregon. I have volumes of images from there, my son took his first small engine flight there, I know people who have crashed and burned there, literally.
I feel like I could fill that scenery with so much "feeling," make it so evocative, people would just park there and take it in. Will I kick his ass? Probably not, his version is very good, completely adequate for anyone that does not actually live there, what would be the point? Some minor Banksy showing up some other Banksy. There is plenty of world yet to populate.

I have a problem usign ExclusionRectangle that it does not always seem to work.
This is strange, sometime works, sometime doesn't work, with the same scenery build.
