• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

X-Plane 10 demo

I tried it. Did several flights. Hated it. Looks horrible, FPS are terrible, and the aircraft fly very strangely. I expected a lot more from them after delaying it a year. What was I thinking? Even after seeing their preview screenshots, I knew it didn't look all that great. Who knew it would be internally bad as well. I'll be saving my money and not wasting $80 to remove the 10 minute limit on the demo.

It does have nice cloud shadows, I'll give them that! :D

So i give it a spin and it looks nice, the night environment looks amazing.

Now we need the MS Flight demo to see there thing are gowing.

Thanks Fritz for the heads up.

I have been downloading since 11PM last night, its stuck at 45% at 3PM today. 1 Kilobyte speeds.

I hear the night environments are spectacular. I can hardly wait to try it.

What kind of planes does it come with?

I just took the King air and the Phantom for a spin, there is lot of planes!
And on my i7 2600k at 4.1ghz and gtx 580 it looks good.

Well, with uTorrent, it was downloaded in under an hour.

It had alot of problems running on my machine. I dont want to sprout off with a bunch of negativity, so I'll just leave it at that.

It does not look like the screenshots. Nothing looks like any of the screenshots.

Hmmm... Bill, I must admit, I can't second it..

I'm with MSFS since FS2 and quite sceptical about any other Flightsim. But I gave it a try. I must honestly admit, I liked the 10 min try. On my i7 with GTX 570 itr runs smoothly like hell and it looks actually really good.
I think, the flight dynamics are much better than writen here. At least when you compare default FSX agains default XP-10. The default FSX C172 flies like a model plane, the few minutes try in XP-10 felt much better. And yes, I have about 750 hours as PIC.. Just my :twocents:

Funny...I know a student pilot that flies the 172SP that heavily modified the default FSX 172SP FDE to what he says feels like the real thing. When comparing that flight model to the one in XP10's C172, the XP10 one flies like nothing like the real thing. I'm confused! :D

I couple years ago I tried X-plane 9 and never really could get into it. I have been very optimistic and leaning to XP-10 over MS Flight from the beginning. After trying the Demo it is really starting to grow on me. I ran better than I thought it would. After seeing all the detail on the houses from the screenshots I thought that looks like over-kill and will kill frames. With my dual core at 3.16 it runs ok. A little choppy around the airport much like FSX was. Watching my aircraft's shadow crawl over the houses/objects is a thing of beauty. I haven't even checked it out at night yet. The aircraft casting shadows on itself could use some work though. (unless I missed a setting to make it look better)

I can only imagine what It will be like after they include everything they wanted to add and try it on a pc with say 8 cores. :) What FSX could have been if it used multiple cores and had real time lighting/shadows.... :(

Although there are some things to like, the fact that you can have only one AI per core makes it a complete non-starter for me.

In FSX I typically have between 150 and 400 AI flying around the coverage area at any given time.

I think what they meant is each plane could run on a core if you wanted it too? Never really got it either. I had a few maybe 5? (didn't count) parked at the airport and as I said I only have a dual core possessor. On a reset I was even sitting on the runway and the NASA 747 was coming into land and went around long before getting close to me. Another little thing I noticed was the highway traffic moved at different speeds. The only problem out of box with that is sometimes you would see cars passing through each other.

Nice screenshot. The landing light effect is very well done, and that tarmac is extremely real.

What disappointed me was that nothing looks like the screenshots except the house textures. The house lawns werent there, many things didnt have the quality they had in the screenshots. I think what they/he did was bring down all the resolutions on the planes, probably dropped the lawn things, etc, etc.

Glad its working for some. That is awesome. It didnt work on mine, so I have to pass. <sniff... >
