Xplane 10/FSX - Modelling Materials?

Hi everybody,

I wonder how FSX and Xplane 10 use materials for modelling?
To give an example, if I model an airplane and want to use it for FSX or Xplane, how would I need to set up the materials on 3ds Max?

For FSX, install the Prepar3D SDK and read the documentation. It explains everything in regards to material protocol for use in the sim.

For X-Plane, you will need to export your 3ds Max model into Blender or AC3D and assign materials there. I'm really not too familiar with X-Plane's material system, but if you read the XPlane2Blender documentation, it should guide you in the right direction.
