• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Xtomdl Visibility problems

Hi guys,

Has anyone encountered the problem I'm having and if so how did you get round it. I'm trying to transfer some FS9 animations to FSX and one of those is pilot visibility but it bring the whole concept of visibility against L: variables into question.

To test I've set up a panel switch to flip the L: variable and then use another part whose visibility is controlled by the same L: variable

This is what I've used for the switch and it seems to work..

<Animation name="switch_pilot" guid="D46CA146-FD2B-4eab-84AB-34378F53246B" type="Sim" typeParam="AutoPlay" length="50" typeParam2="switch_pilot" />

<PartInfo>
<Name>switch_pilot</Name>
<AnimLength>50</AnimLength>
<Animation>
<Parameter>
<Code>(L:pilotvisible, bool)</Code>
</Parameter>
</Animation>
<MouseRect>
<Cursor>Hand</Cursor>
<TooltipText>Pilot visibility</TooltipText>
<CallbackCode>
(L:pilotvisible, bool) ! (&gt;L:pilotvisible, bool)
</CallbackCode>
</MouseRect>
</PartInfo>

And the part..

<PartInfo>
<Name>pilot_showing</Name>
<Visibility>
<Parameter>
<Code>(L:pilotvisible, bool) 1 == if{ 1 } els{ 0 }</Code>
</Parameter>
</Visibility>
</PartInfo>

The problem is that whist this compiles without error and does indeed work, nothing else does... all other animations are shown at frame 0. This is in FSDS by the way. HELP!!!

Hi Felix, unfortunately I haven't been able to get to the bottom of this one yet. I've seen the replies and answered them on FFDS.

It's an odd one but it seems that checking for visibility conditions is breaking the animations in an otherwise happy FSDS project.
